Help Yet another battery thread - battery suddenly dying with no warning

I've had my Desire for nearly a year now, and in the last few weeks I have noticed a new problem creeping in. Up until recently, I've been getting about a day out of the battery, and that was fine for me. However for some reason, the phone has suddenly decided that it can't cope with the battery level indicator going to orange (i.e around 20% battery left). Normally you get the battery warnings that state that it has 15%, or 10% or 5% remaining, but sometimes it's going straight from no warning to the <1% warning and shutting itself down. I've checked the battery stats etc. and according to that the battery health is good and it hasn't lost anything. Any ideas anyone?

Hi

In the last month or so my phone has started going from a green battery symbol (about 3/4 full) to red and turning itself off with no warning at all. The battery used to last around a day and needed charging overnight, but this happens at random times, normally only 6 hours after it was taken off charge. Ive tried cleaning the battery contact points but no luck. Has anyone any ideas of what I can do?

many thanks:)
