NO LONGER Confirmed by HTC - No 2.3 on the Desire

Does anyone know how much space there is on the system partition of a stock ROM? I can see the update taking up some space, but not that much.

Sounds like HTC is weighing their odds here. Honestly though, I think very few end users will know or care about the update, and many of those that would be aware have rooted anyways.

This is one of the many reasons I am going back to the Iphone in January next year. I can't believe I left Iphone for this piece of crap

You might want to read the whole thread next time, it saves you from looking foolish, when halfway down the thread there's an update saying that that they will be bringing the update to Desire owners.

Bear in mind someone I know has an Incredible S and was looking forward to getting 2.3

Although he thinks the battery lasts a little longer, he didn't notice any other differences. He was really disappointed, it didn't even include the new version of Sense which surely the Incredible S can support.

Ho hum. By the time it arrives I bet I'll be nearly ready to upgrade (September)

It doesnt need to be, they'll make it fit. What if the SD card dies? Your phone dies too.
Or if you change SD card?

It's one thing for someone who has rooted, partitioned their card and chosen a ROM that does that - they should know what they've done and be able to handle it. But give all Desire owners a ROM that lives partially on SD? I don't want to think of all the ways that could backfire...
