Fix coming 6/15.... or now

Maybe, but I did the update, and I've had perhaps five reboots total! We're talking one reboot, then two, three days go by, then another reboot... then a few more days go by.

It's not really even a big issue for me, but I can understand if the phone constantly reboots, it's a MAJOR problem.

My only point is... why does my phone have almost no problems, and other people's TB have major problems? Some people report not having ANY reboots!

It's not as simple as you make it out, I don't believe....
I read in another forum that people noticed that it happened with varying frequencies depending on their location. One person said that it never happens while they're at work, but all the time at home. The OTA fixed that location bug, I'm wondering if the random reboots are a problem with location.

I don't see why he would say they don't know what's behind the random reboots. The random reboots are most certainly caused by the last OTA. People didn't start complaining about it really until that rolled out. I had never had any reboots and then I DLed that update and now I have reboots. I never put it on my wife's phone and to this day she's never had a random reboot.

I'm not trying to sound argumentative, but the reboots are NOT a cause of the last OTA. As a matter of FACT, the reboots happened on my phone before the MR1 was released. I'm sure of it as the air I breathe. Verizon has a record of me reporting the issue two days (Wednesday) before the "official" push (it was actually available to users on Thursday who checked for updates on their phone) on Friday May, 13.

The MR1 release however, did aggravate the reboot issue.

Again, that still could mean several things from the conversation with the engineer.

But what within the last ota caused it? They know it was in the last ota but they do not know what it is exactly. If a car manufacturer knows something is causing many of a specific model to crash they don't recall the cars and say well something is wrong they try to find the root of the problem recall for that reason and fix the issue

Again, for clarification, please see my statement above. The reboots started happening before the MR1 release, but were further complicated by the release itself.

I'm outside of an area that has 4G by a few miles but gets really great (full bars 99% of the time) 3G service. If I shut off the (CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto) 4G and switch to just 3G only (CDMA auto PRL), I don't have a problem with the phone rebooting. But if it's got the LTE on, look out, reboot central.

However, in another incident a few weeks ago, I was in an area that had pretty good 4G service and I was using Google Navigation and the phone rebooted. After the reboot, I tried the same thing again, same area. Reboot. This happened for a couple of more times and finally, I just drove away from the area.

So yeah....

So you don't get the reboots when you're not using 4G?

I didn't recall a large reboot problem before the update. The issue could have been magnified by the update but it seemed like the reboot problem went hand in hand with mr1

+1

My phone came with the original software. I have never had a reboot. I have had the location problem where it thinks i'm in a different country and a couple SMS bugs, but no reboots.

Count me in as one of the lucky ones. I have only had the phone reboot once that I know of and it was after the update. It could be happening when i'm sleeping but haven't checked the timers in the morning to find out.

I also have not had the location problem either. Are people who are having a problem in 3G only areas?

I live in a 4G area as well except that I am on the fringe at home...which is where the only reboot I have had happened.

My GPS takes forever to lock but I use the GPS Status app trick which makes the lock instant.

I havn't had reboot issues, in 4g area most the time. My phone couldn't find itself in in a paper bag. I've managed to get 1 gps lock in the 2 months I've had my phone and it was off by over half a mile.

Probably the best summation of what I've encountered...

It did seem like it, didn't it? I still don't like the idea that the MR1 was leaked weeks before the first OTA and the issues were prominent, yet the go was given anyways. As far as the update being the direct cause of the reboots, based on the information I have and the experience, I'm inclined to believe that something was borked before the OTA.

Yeah but if it is a true flaw in the hardware it will be a fiasco. HTC and VZW would likely delay the replacement of phones as long as they could. I didn't purchase my phone on launch day but towards the end of April I wonder if something was done between launch and when I purchased the phone that resolved the issue since I haven't had many reboots.

I had no reboot issues on my Bolt and I got it day two. Im not going to recieve a newer model but brand new for a replacement.

If youve had major wifi issues ie; "Unable to scan for networks" and NOTHINGS helped, you need a new phone.

I've had no issues that make me want to replace my phone. I've had issues before where the replacement VZW sends is worse off than the one I sent in. I've got a little light seepage and I think 3 reboots but then I started rebooting the phone manually every other day and haven't had any others.

I had no choice on the replacement. lol. I sent it in to get fixed and they deemed it unable to be fixed and ordered me a brand new one. My first bolt was damn near perfect. No reboots, no issues with the power button or volume rocker. Yeah there was light seepage, but that was covered up by my Ringke case and I stopped having the dust issue when I started using this case as well. I didnt care too much about the cosmetics, but other than the wifi and mobile hotspot issues, everything worked. I was really hoping they were able to fix it.

Edit: I dont have assurion. I bought my phone through Wirefly and their insurance has been awesome so far. I had a cracked screen and they replaced the screen and sent me back my phone.

"If the unit can not be repaired we will replace your cell phone with a new (not refurbished) identical (not similar) unit at no additional cost to you."

Go screw yourself assurion!

Since I don't use 4G maybe I should go ahead with mr1 lol

Hang on there a second now...don't rush into something just because I said something. As a matter of fact, I can unfortunately testify that as of today, the phone rebooted (this was in another area but less than 15 miles away from home) on it's own, without me having the 4G radio activated. Yep, it was in "CDMA auto (PRL)" mode and it rebooted plain as day.

I'm almost able to create the reboots and with the latest issue I just reported about having reboots in 3G only, I've decided to ask for a replacement. It'll show up on Monday and I'll see what happens then.

I'm more than 100 miles from the nearest 4g and I get random reboots at least three times a day. I had two just in the last half hour. Didnt have any before the mr1 update, but do remember people complaining about it before. I do have the 4g antena turned off. I don't think the reboots have anything to do with 4g.
On another note, anyone else having Bluetooth issues? Both mine and my wife's thunderbolts don't like to stay connected to either of our cars(both 2011 fords with ford sync)

Don't worry. I was joking. Lol. Saw an article about MR2 being pushed back and replaced with a gingerbread update.
