Root GAOSP with Gingerbread (Android 2.3)

New nightly out. Now that was fast. Change log here.
Camera still flickers in preview mode but it's nice for a party.

Newest nightly works a lot better on my phone. It installed very quickly and easily. The previous nightly turned my phone into a cement block. Slowed down to almost a dead stop. Don't know why. This nightly however is exremely fast and doesn't overtax the memory very often. Does anyone know of any tweaks I can do to "tune it up"? I remember seeing a posting one time for GAOSP configurations but I can't find it now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Fear not help is here.

Ahem, I always wanted to write that.
Actually there's two threads off it on Drakaz forum:
First one and Second one. There is a third one but can't remember where I've seen it.

Thanks for the tip. It has helped a lot. I was out for a walk and played with the phone(GPS and camera). The GPS worked quite well, I found a signal within 15 seconds. The camera was good. I am using Camera 360 from the market. Time will tell as far as battery performance goes. Will keep everyone posted. Speaking of everyone, this forum seems awfully quiet now. I guess everyone has bailed.

Moved on to be accurate. And some went over to Drakaz forum, cause it's better to be in contact with the devs then not. More action is going on there.

Anyway keep us (better to say me) posted. I would, but I needed to format my Internal SD card - coudn't flash gapps no matter what. So I'm starting almost from scratch. This day was to stressful to say the least.

Yes buddy...Did a full wipe.
Still stuck at the boot screen for over 20 min...I dont get a clue so as to why is this happening.
Have always flashed all releases ... Dunno why this one is goofing up.

Did you do a full wipe???

It's mandatory for this GAOSP after a jump from Froyo to Gingerbread. Also first boot takes about 5 min. So...

Did you try if problem persist with GAOSP 3 Beta 1???
Also what Recovery version are you using?

So many questions from me...
cebollita_animated_onion-06.gif

Hi got it working finally bu updating recovery to 6.6.2 from 6.5.2.
Its amazingly zippy...Cant believe its the same galaxy.

Just one query...I heard people having issues after applying Gaaps from CM 7
Which gaaps is suitable for gingerbread.

The only gapps working on the latest nightly are CM7 gapps. The only issue is that Gingerbread screen on and off animation is lost. The only way to return the is to enable JIT. But off course it happened to a minor group off users. So maybe you're lucky and that doesn't happen to you (if you like that animation).

Gingerbread eats much more RAM then Froyo. Also if you want faster and better perfomance from GAOSP 3 latest nightly, you should read post #28. Btw, new fix was released which ads 7 MB more to our unit, but you loose 3D and camera (will need third app in order to use it).

Also, using ext. SD card is advisable and Fudgeswap.
