Help can no longer mount my phone or sd card to PC

So my vibrant (have it for about 6 months now) has developed a problem of no longer being able to mount the phone OR sd card to my PC. When I do the pulldown menu there is no option to mount, nothing is listed. Drives dont show up in "my computer". It does however beep and indicates its now in charging mode. Tried turning the phone on and off, tried another computer. Checked and unchecked USB debugging and Im at a loss. HELP!!! thanks all!

hi by any chance you haven't accidently swiched the data cable with the other charging cable that came with a car charger and looks exactly the same have you?
read this post:
I was being a total twit. I forgot that I had swapped my USB cable for my charging USB cable that came with my car charger. All USB cables are not created equal. There are 4 wires (Universal Serial Bus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) in a USB cable, you only need two to make the device charge, the other two are to carry data.

Obviously the manufacturer saved costs, of course ( http://www.realityinfo.org ), in making their charging cable by making it only a two core wire, instead of four core. So the charging still worked, leading me to believe that there was a configuration issue.

So I am now using the 4 core cable and all is working perfectly.
I feel like a dumb ass :)

if thats not the problem it is probably a driver issue.
when you plug the cable in to your computer does it try to install the drivers for the phone?
if not try this,(with the phone plugged in) start>control panel>device manager>disk drives there should be 2 samsung drivers there which end with ATA device also check start>control panel>device manager>modems
when your phone is plugged in there should be "samsung android usb modem"
also start>control panel>device manager>universal serial bus controllers there should be "samsung android usb composite device"

also check that your phones sd card is mounted before you connect it by going in your phone settings>sd card and phone strorage>mount sd card.

does it connect to samsung kies?

let me know how you get on when you have done theese things if you dont have all the drivers installed or your sd card is mounted in your phone we will try another troubleshooter

I am experiencing the same thing. I have read and read on my issue with no resolve. Before I get started here are my specs.

Model # SGH-T959
Firmware 2.2
Baseband T959UVKB1
Kernel 2.6.32.9
Build # Bionix NextGen 2 by TeamWhiskey
Windows 7 on my Laptop
Vista on my Desktop

This all started when I tried to hook my phone to my PC to transfer my pics and videos. At one time I was able to do this without an issue, but not anymore. I have spent tons of time reading post after post, following peoples directions and my PC still does not recognize my phone. To avoid getting the same posts I have already read here is a glimps of what I have done so far.

Plugged my phone into the USB ports in the back of my PC
I am using the correct USB cable supplied with my phone.
Tried all USB settings
Tried USB debugging Checked and Unchecked
Tried Unknown sources Checked and Unchecked
Factory reset my phone
Installed Kies, updated it and installed drivers
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers
I probably tried a ton of other things, but can't remember the specifics.

When I plug my phone in via the USB cable I get the following message.

USB Device Not Recognized
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.

I ended up deciding to root my phone and have tried a couple of different ROMs through ROM manager. I still get the same "USB Device Not Recognized" issue. I don't see any Samsung drivers in my Device Manager. My daughter just got the new Galaxy S and that was recognized with ease. I thought that might trick my PC into connecting with my Vibrant, but it did not.

Please Help :)
