Accessories Charging cords and spare battery for the Epic? I am confuse.

Just got my Epic a couple days ago and have found that my charging cords for my old Sprint Hero don't fit my Epic. After reading the threads here that mention OEM cords for the Epic I am just confused.

There have been some mention of Blackberry branded charging cords and that they are much better quality, but which Blackberry cord since there are different cords for those phones too?

Will most micro USB charging cords work with the Epic? Or do I need to know a certain type of cord to look for? I really need another cord because I always charge my phone in the car when using Goggle or Sprint navigation or just when my battery is low.

No wonder the Hero charging cords won't fit! OK, so micro USB cords will work. Thanks.

Here is a somewhat related question - I have also seen spare batteries described as the "G7" but the battery in my phone is a G9. A spare battery is handy to have but which one, G7 or G9? Is there any difference?

The battery in my Epic reads that it is 1500 mAh and "G9." But spare battery talk in forum threads and spare batteries on ebay (for example) state the battery is 1500 mAh and "G7." So my question is, what difference is there between a spare battery with the same mAh but a "G7" battery over a "G9" battery?

G7 batteries are labelled for the overseas galaxy S phones. G9 are the US versions. Most cheap G7's you'll see on ebay are fake and won't last as long as your original G9. You're better off getting a 3rd party branded battery that's not trying to pass itself off as OEM. You can tell the G7's are fake because the silver label is off (some are more white than silver), the lettering is inconsistent, the SAMSUNG logo is off, and there are a few other tells.

Motorola as well as 3rd parties make a nice mini to micro usb adapter so your old mini usb chargers don't become obsolete. I still have some mini usb devices so i make use of the adapters and old chargers. They're pretty cheap on amazon, ebay, meritline and the like.
