Root Dev Needed... 2.1 Running on the Behold 2

Eugene;

I don't know if you still frequent these boards, but for what it's worth.

Thank you.

Thanks for your hard work with this device. Thanks for the roms, thanks for the custom recovery, thanks for the ext3 rom I was running (now my son is, lol).

I am grateful for your dedication and hard work on this and hopefully I will have the pleasure of loading other roms on newer phones I acquire.

Be well.

Considering I own a Samsung Vibrant now, I'm not really all that saddened. Honestly, I'm surprised Eugene kept dev'ing for this as long as he did. Even though he didn't get a steady version out (which I think he would have had he not bricked his phone), he at least proved that the Behold 2 could run 2.x. And that, my friends, is a total pimp hand to the face of Samsung.

we know Samsung sucks, all that doesn't make the fact that we're stuck on contract with a sucky phone, which didn't have to be so sucky, for another year or so.

And that sucks for you, but that's life. Why don't you just go buy an unlocked phone? They're a bit pricey, but not too bad.

I think it sucks for almost everyone who has a BH2 while still on contract. And don't worry, after I found out the BH2 was not going to get an OS upgrade I purchased a Nexus One. I expected the BH2 to hold us over for 2 years while the ARM multicore market and phones matured but Samsung forced me to spend the $500+ before that market was ready. So I've got a good phone, it cost me lots of money and I'm still stuck in a contract. _that_ is why Samsung has me pissed off and I'd be really pissed off if I had to use the phone as it was promised it would operate. The Samsung BH2 phone is sometime used to take pictures.

Agreed. I think it was pretty shady of them to promise 2.x, and then go back on that promise when it was released.

hello hopefully someone can help me
I made the mistake of purchasing the behold 2, unfortunately im stuck with it and it is stuck on 1.5. I have been going through so many threads and everytime I think I found the one to download it is outdated or has issues like camera or vibration no longer working. Can someone give me the latest properly running 1.6 update? From what Ive seen its my only hope to having a phone do the things I thought it would do on its on. Or point me in the right direction at your earliest convenience??? thank you

i've moved on from the BH2 about a month ago and now i own a Nexus S. (about when Eugene officially dropped support for it). But there IS hope.

the new Android platform 2.4(Ice cream Sandwich) may be portable onto the BH2. considering the fact that its supposed to unite all versions of platforms including 1.5~3.1
At the Google IO 2011 they officially announced that Android 2.4 will be able to port into older devices. ANDDDD during the Google IO 2011, when they were discussing Android 2.4, many phones from different manufacturers were shown above the screen and there i saw the BH2.

Theres a video somewhere on Youtube which i realy dont feel like searching for ATM since each video is like 10min long.!!

Sounds like rumors until proven. Don't get your hopes up.

I didn't hear him say much that sounds as though it'll be backwards-portable to the BH2.

That's called, "reading too much into it". They showed a picture of the Behold 2 when showing different devices that were powered by android. Had absolutely nothing to do with what you're talking about.

From my take on it, they are saying that it will make it easier for app developers to code without worrying about a lot of differences between devices. (Essitially make the apps run from a google framework more so than from the phone framework.) One framework = no major difference to code. I'm sure the kernel & firmware won't have anything to do with the new framework they are adding.

My beloved 1st android and Amoled phone. It got so much potential but it was just an expiriment from samsung.
I had to get Epic 4g and im deffinetly glad that i did, samsung been updating it not as fast as htc but we should ge GB in any day now.

I think samsung learned its lesson from Behold 2 and now it takes better care of updates.
I just wish i went with Vibrant instead of Epic because i never use physical keyboard or front camera and its more bulky but it has led flash.
And epic is the only GS phone that dont have Cyanogen for it yet.

I still visit this forum because i really want to see eclair or froyo on BH2 but i dont think its gonna happen and if it does im buying BH2 on ebay to use as mp3 media player because its small and cheap and has Amoled.

But my advice just get GS because it has reasonable siupport and is one of the best phones till this day, unless you reather wait for GS2.
Or just go with HTC if you dont care about Super Amoled screen, but i refuse to use regular lcd after expiriencing S Amoled.
If Sony,LG,HTC,etc.. had S Amoleds than i would buy them but till then im stuck with Samsung,i wont hate on samsung because my Epic been droped numerous times and not a scratch on it and its almost imposible to brick.
