Is there any way of disabling these..?

I use GoSMS and K-9 for messages and email. This is due to the stock messaging app sometimes not having a send button when replying to a message. And because the stock email app just isn't very good..

The annoying thing is I'll get a message through so will use GoSMS (as up pops a notification) and then there's still a notification in the notification area that I have a message, which is the stock messaging app. The same goes for the email too.

Just wondered if there's any way of removing/disabling without rooting...

Go to stock messaging/email app- Menu- Settings. Scroll down and untick notifications. You could also sign out of the email app.

If like me... this answer only fixes the email notifications. I also installed gosmspro and I kept getting notifications on the stock sms messaging app. (even with the notifications turned off)..

The only way to clear down the notification within the social hub was to go into the stock messaging app and open up the last sms received, then close the app and the notification was then deleted.

I tried and tried to find a solution to stop this from happening but couldn't. I even contacted the gosmspro app developer four times by mail, but got no answer.

In the end I had to remove gosmspro and stick with stock..

UPDATE:

I've just noticed there is a new build 3.48.. installed it and it has cured my double notification issue now.. thanks dev.........

I have a similar problem in that I want the standard notification ringtone to play a tone for text SMS and I want a separate tone for emails. Whatever tone I set in email gets played along with the standard notification ringtone, meaning I get 2 alerts. Am I doing something wrong here or do I have to use alternative SMS and emails apps?

sorry for gatecrashing this thread but I've just figured out an Android conflict. If I set ringtone for Gmail but through the Social Hub this gets played as well as or independantly as the one i set directly from the Gmail App. The way to avoid 2 ringtones sounding is to set ringtones from the Social Hub to none and then rely on the ringtones set from Gmail App.

Unfortunately the BT Fon App used to connect to Openzone/Fon wifi does not have its own notification ringtone selection so will only play the one set in settings>sounds>notification ringtone, which is currently my SMS alert.

This is difficult after coming from iOS!!
