Help Update help please?

Hello forum. I just got the samsung mesmerize the other day, Im a blackberry guy too so i have no idea how to really use the android operating system. I wanted to try this because my sister had one and i liked how it works. I want to update my new phone to have the newest system updates and whatever else. It says i have 2.1? Ive been reading around and seeing a 2.2 and have no idea how to do this. If someone could give me a quick explantion on how to do this thatd be awsome. Not trying to annoy anyone just want to understand this new phone

Typically if you just got the mesmerise, it should come with the latest software. I always go to the USCellular store and have them do the update. It's fast and painless. Newer isn't always better, considering there were problems with the updates on SOME peoples phones, as you could read in the Samsung Mesmerise tags. My recommendation would be if you have no problems.... leave it as it is. I am on my third replacement phone. Anyways, read the forums and you'll see for yourself.

The latest update is 2.2.1, build EE19. There are some advantages to upgrading to 2.2.1, but like Zip said, Samsung hasn't done the greatest job handling this upgrade.

If you do decide to upgrade, I also recommend getting it done in the store. It is possible to download it and apply it yourself, but the largest number of problems seem to occur with the downloaded updates.

Seriously it's not that hard go to XDAforums.com and they can walk you thru both updates step by step. I took mine to the store and they had mine and my husbands phone for like 2 hrs. I updated my sons hear at home in litterally less than 10 mins and that included download time. For the 2.2 you download samsung kies mini, but for the patch I found odin to much quicker and with the patch update you didn't even lose anything, 2.2 does have some quirks(witch the patch is suppose to fix and seems to ) but it has alot more options then 2.1. I'm not a techy nerd and I had no problems doing it myself lol no offense I love techy nerds lol
