Can you recommend a case?

Yes, I've had the problem, too. We were on an all-day trip, and I thought I was fine as long as my phone was plugged in. I totally ran out of charge.

I was using the USB cord along with a little adapter for the cigarette lighter of the car. I'm thinking that the adapter did supply enough power. Upon studying the product descriptions, I found that there are differences in the amount of power supplied by different car adapters. So, I ordered a new one that should supply more power. I haven't tried it, yet, though.

What car charger were you using? Has anyone found one that works when the GPS is running?

I have the Infuse car dock. The phone with its case will not fit, so I have to remove the case. I don't know how much I will use the dock. The dock seems well made and sturdy, and the phone fits very snugly. The dock has a sliding section with a mini-USB connector that slides and locks the phone in place. The phone detects that it is in the dock. If you install the Samsung Car Home app that you can download that app starts when it detects it is in the dock. There is a mini-USB port on the dock (in the sliding section) where you can plug in a charger. Haven't actually done that yet.

I am using a car charger that was given to me when I bought the phone. It does charge the phone, and I believe the GPS was on (not sure I was navigating), but whether it would keep up I don't know. I haven't used the charger much.

Edit: It occurs to me that maybe all of you also have the Infuse dock and that's why you ask about a genric case. Sorry about that.

Just wanted to follow-up on the car dock. I purchased a Rockfish universal GPS windshield mount from Best Buy. It was in the GPS section, not in with the cell phones. The mount is probably not technically made for a device quite as big as the Infuse as far as the horizontal spread of the arms goes, but it mounts fine vertically. You can just loosen the nut and turn the bracket to a horizontal position. That might sound a little confusing or contradictory, but if you get it you'll see. Also, there are a couple little "feet" that swivel out for the device to rest on. What I'm not sure about yet, and will test it out to see, is just how securely the phone is being held in the bracket. The main point I wanted to make, I did not have to remove the case I am using in order to put it in the mount. The Infuse mount I purchased from AT&T was too snug to do that, and it was a bit of an effort to get it out of the mount because it was so snug. One other thing to mention, the universal mount was about $12. If it works out I may see if I can return the Infuse mount to AT&T.

The barely there case does have a small lip that clips it onto the phone on the sides so the glass will be separated from whatever flat surface you set it on.

Yes it's gorilla glass so no need for a screen protector.

thanks for the fasr confirmation, barely there will be ordered tonight. a scfeen this large and the pop case feels like im gonna break the phone when getting in the car lol. i guess the i visor will be there for atleast couple of months before i retire it. got the phone and stuff on monday, dont wanna just thow it away after 2 days of use.
thanks again

"Casemate" makes a nice easy to get the phone in and out of case. It is a PopCase. The rubberized inside and hard outside make it nice. I put a screen protector on phone first day. Don't like it cause screen is so nice without it. How tough is gorilla glass and do I even need a screen protector? thanks

Also I was looking at the "Dickies" active duty holster and swivel belt clip
(thanks for the link Chinefoo) and was wondering if the phone with popcase would fit?

I always really liked the feel of the rubberized hard cases before, but I just got a Tpu gel case from Ebay and really like it. It's not too bulky and protects the phone well. One of the best parts is how easy it is to get on and off. I got an extra battery for emergencies and need to be able to get the case on and off quickly in order to switch the batteries . This would be great for use with the Samsung car mount, too.

I got best buy to exchange my evo innocase (seido) for the same case for the infuse. It has a belt clip It works perfectly. A little difficult to remove but i see little reason to remove it. I will pick up some PET protectors off ebay or amazon soon....we have used them on all of our phones and they are crystal clear, slick as glass and anti glare. We typically get 5 or so for a few bucks. As for a mount my arKon adjustable windshield mount from amazon is perfect.

TPU-Cases High Gloss Black Flexible TPU Skin Cover Phone Case for Samsung Infuse 4G

In regard to TPU cases, I got the one linked above on Amazon and it is much slimmer than the case-mate case I had before and very reasonably priced.

Only drawback: while the micro-usb cable included w/ my infuse fits perfectly, other micro-usb cables may have issues if the plastic around them is too wide. Not a big issue though if you have a dremmel tool or any means to trim back the rubber/plastic on the cable to give it some room.

Overall though an excellent case, and who can beat $9. :)

When you say "a little difficult to remove," what do you mean? Is the case difficult to remove from the phone, or from the belt clip, or something else? Thanks.

The case is tricky to remove from the phone. definitely not somethingbyou want to do regularly.

I got the same one at Best Buy today, at least I think it is the same. It says Platinum, and it is a Smartcase and Holster. And, like you said, it is a pain to get out of the case. In fact, I haven't figured it out yet. Got any tips? I see you're supposed to press at point B, but either I'm not finding the right place to push, or it don't work. I got it in OK.

I do like the holster and belt clip.

Actually, it may not be the same case. You mentioned an Innocase and I don't think this is that case. It is supposed to slide apart after pressing at point B to get the phone out.

Well, I finally did get the case off, but damaged it in the process. Can't believe it has to be that difficult. I went back to a Rocketfish case I bought from BB a few weeks ago that I like. It is a hard shell case which is much easier to get off because it has a little slot on the side to insert something into and snap it off. It is slightly larger (maybe thicker or fatter are better words), but it fits in the holster I got with the seidio case.

The instructions on the website are slightly different than what actually came with the case, and could have been more helpful. Are you saying the instructions I got were for a different case? They are similar, but it would have been nice to have the correct instructions. I damaged it, so I can not try the instructions you posted.

I got 3 dif cases. 2 rubber cases and 1 ballistic.

The ballistic case is SO big and bulky! BUT it's a really good case. Unfortunately i don't think it will fit in my jeans/pants. I mean, it will but it will look weird. So i have started using my regular black rubber case.

I feel like this phone is top of the line, so it needs a good, protective case. However i can't seem to find a GOOD case that isn't bulky.
