Root GummyCHARGED 1.8 (Kejar31) 06/22/11

man, that was so much easier than the crap I had to deal with when I had to root and install roms on the X

I JUST brought the phone home less than 30 minutes ago from Costco (upgraded from the X), never even ran the stock verizon software and ran the Darkside Rom, Root, Voodoo all in one and flashed this 1.8.1 rom. Hopefully this runs as well as my X did...

Any notable differences from 1.7.5? I just got my phone set up how I like it, lol.

some people are having success installing this ROM w/o wiping, you can give it a shot, but I would still backup with Titanium Backup or similar. I did a Titanium Backup and wiped and installed and then just restored all my apps, even Launcher Pro, took 15 mins to get back to where I was.

I do bi-weekly Titanium Backup backups, so I'm not too worried about it. My big thing is that literally all but one item on my three home screens are widgets (I use multicon to preserve screen real estate). I recently switched to GO Launcher as a test run, but I know when I would restore Launcher Pro, it would give widget errors, forcing me to remove the widgets and then put them back up. That's not even a big hassle, but an annoyance.

I was just curious if anyone had anything like battery life or performance improvements. Just something that would make me a little less lazy.

Have not noticed any difference from 1.75

PS 1.85 is up with some nice add ons.

I actually jumped in and tried to install 1.8.1 over 1.7.5. Of course, somewhere during my download, I ended up with a corrupt zip file (I guess from now on, I need to check my checksums before doing upgrades) and soft-bricked myself. I ended up having the flash the CWM/Imnuts OC Kernel/Gummy 1.7.5 combo, then flash the PBJT (non-OC) kernel, then flash Gummy 1.8.1.

Let me be the lesson. Check your checksums. :p

As far as 1.8.5, it looks like just Swype themes and reboot options. I think I'm going to skip this one, myself, because I'm using Swype 3.0 beta and I don't really need the options to reboot to CWM or download.

Hey guys,

I just wiped data/cache, then installed GummyCharged 1.8.5 and I seem to be boot looping at the Samsung Logo... anyone know about this/ know how to fix?

Thanks!

UPDATE: I think this may be due to the fact that I updated to GB already...going to try to go back, then reflash GummyCharged...

I dropped the all too buggy GB leak for GummyCharge 1.8.5 and I ain't looking back.

It's brilliant. I like to call my phone the Verizon Nexus Charge 4G-LTE™ now.
I have lost nearly all interest in the Function and the Bionic.

The phone is liquidy smooth and fast. It gets about 1500 for a Quad score, if that even means anything.
I've been on the phone a lot today, much more than usual so I can't give a good indication of the battery. In a weeks time I'll know.

The man has made the concept of an upgrade meaningless. Now that he's working on the Gingerbread version of GummyCharge, what more can anyone ask for?

EDIT: I'm having trouble sleeping so I decided to watch some streaming video and the battery went from 90 to 39 in a period of 4 hours. I think that's pretty good for intensive 4G fringe area data usage.

Also I might have to take back what I said about losing interest in the Function. I watched phone dog's review of the SGS2 and it looks perfect. TW 4.0 is awesome.

Anybody in the Tampa Bay area that wants to help a n00b Gummycharge his phone? I've read the instructions provided, but don't totally understand all the terminology so I am leary about doing it. No amateurs please! lol

Let me know, I think I want in on this action... my bro in Texas keeps telling me I'm missing out by not rooting... he has a T-Mobile G2x with the Cyanogen mod and said its crazy fast and better battery life.

Seems like GummyCharged is the way to go on the CHARGE?

I noticed that when I loaded this in (I had altered beast) my email is not working. Anyone else having this issue? Keep in mind that I am new to this whole rooting thing (I had Iphone that was Jailbroken).

On a side note: Rooting is kind of confusing. I can follow the directions well enough but how do I go back once I have installed roms? For example, how do I get rid of gummycharge when the new gingerbread comes out(later this month I think?) yes I have oden before you ask.
