Now my Galaxy S2 is on Ebay and I am using my iPhone 4 again.

I am not going to get into fanboy arguments or anything.

Just listing some reasons.

#1. I will always be an OSX guy. Android does not play well with Mac. iPhoto, iMovie, iTunes. (Doubletwist sucks)

#2. Battery. Not only does it have horrible battery life, but it charges SLOWLY as well.

#3. iOS 5 solves some of the problems that had me looking to Android in the first place.

So see you guys around. I usually don't post here when not an Android user (I have done Android 3 times before.)

well, as long as ur happy with wat ur using! if u use all those mac apps, i guess iphone is more suited

i agree doubletwist isnt great, but i use itunes agent which syncs music directly from itunes to my phone.. so u can use any music player u like on ur phone n still keep itunes on ur comp. but yeah, thats about it

#1 So true. I still love my SGS2 and won't be returning to the Church of Apple (not for a phone anyway) but this is far and away my biggest complaint. I'm not sure how much this is Android and how much Samsung, but this has been a major headache for me. I am going to buy my wife (also a Mac user but not very techie) a tablet for her birthday in a couple of weeks. Did I think of buying her an Android tablet? No, not for a second. I can cope with faffing about trying to get stuff to work, but she would just stop using it. I shall be buying her an iPad and I know she'll love it because it will do what she wants it to do easily.

#2 Not such a big deal to me. It lasts from 06:30-00:00 every day and anyhow, I spend so much time in front of a computer that I can charge my phone during the day. My iPhone wouldn't last two days anyway so I had to charge that every day as well.

#3 I'm less convinced by this one. The big problem with iOS for me is the extent to which Apple wants to make decisions for me. It doesn't do this with OSX (if it did, I'd drop my MacBook Pro like a hot brick) but there is no way that Apple will ever permit the flexibility that is available to Android users. You pay a price for this flexibility (see #1 above) but I think it's a price worth paying.

It's a shame your Android experiment didn't work out but good luck and I hope your expectations of iOS 5 are met.

Seems that all points are moot by default with item one, since those Apple things were designed for the iPhone and not Android.

I would suggest an ironic analogy, but the OP already covers this with trying to use an Android device with a proprietary Apple ecosystem.

Me gots an iPod 4 64gb, so not an Apple hater.

I have to say that the problems are Android's fault not Apple's.

Firstly, OSX and iTunes were there first. Secondly, the iTunes database is stored on the filesystem easily accessible, there is nothing proprietary about it so there is no technical reason why a desktop client couldn't access it easily. Thirdly, the big problems aren't solely related to syncing but to support for formats and ID3 V2.4 tags. There are open source codecs for Apple Lossless so it does not appear that it's royalty encumbered (I am willing to be corrected on this).

The complaints about desktop integration are certainly not all coming from Apple users either. AFAIK there is ironically, no Linux support at all and plenty of Windows users on this very forum have had problems with Kies and Outlook synchronisation.

In short, Android (or is it Samsung) just isn't very good at this.

I only used Doubletwist 1 time. To initially sync my music from iTunes. Havent used it since. I just get my other music that i add from Frostwire or a CD or from the Amazon MP3 store and just drag the songs into my Micro card and that it it.

Kies sucks! Ive never used Kies. Only Kies Mini when i had to upgrade my firmware to the official 2.2 and then when i didnt think it was quick enough, i went back to using a custom ROM. I do not have a GS2 yet so i dont know how and why Kies is tied to it but i assume i could get by without it as i have with my Galaxy S.

As for Apple, this has always been their problem. Their OS is not compatible with a lot of things and thugh they have gotton better, it still keeps many people away from them if it wasnt so difficult in that regard. Well that and they are still too expensive for many people.

Actually.... I had 2nd thoughts and decided to keep it and force myself to get out of this Apple rut. I really love everything else about the phone. Just yanked it off eBay.

Really is that your comment? you like phone which u cannot customize anything on it. This is like buying a laptop with pre-installed programs and things which you must use. :thinking:

For me the fact that you can root your SGS (which I didn't even do,because the phone is so customizable) and customize everything about everything is amazing. This is the thing about new technologies the more advanced they are, the more customizable they are, to fit even the most eccentric tastes. For me buying a phone which is Not highly customizable is like buying a factory car with no extras and No enhancements. The wow factor in phones and especially in SGS 2 is the super customizable android software + the unbelievable super amoled plus screen. For me the extras and tweaks in for any hardware are as important as the hardware itself.

I came from an iPhone 3G and use an iMac and MacBook at home, as well as using my iPod classic for music. I've had my Android SGS2 for just over a month now, and the biggest gripe I've had so far is the music management. iTunes works perfectly for me in all other areas, but I've just learnt to adjust and either drag n drop or use DoubleTwist (although it is reeeally slow on my iMac). As far as movies are concerned, drag n drop suits me as most of my films aren't in iTunes format but are .avi's so that's a big plus on my old iPhone that I don't have to convert them to watch on my phone.

I know a lot of people are complaining about the battery life, but my SGS2 is no different than my iPhone 3G, and seems to last longer than my girlfriend's 3GS!

I definitely agree that it would be better if Android could integrate better with my iEcosystem, but i wouldn't trade my iMac/MacBook for anything and haven't had any major issues adjusting to life with an Android phone in terms of compatability so far. I used to think I would never get another phone other than an iPhone, but since I've switched to Android (and more specifically, the amazing SGS2), I couldn't have been more wrong!

I thought that the OP was fairly written and provided a cogent explanation as to why 1080p was going back to his iPhone. No-one wants to read "Yah, boo, sucks, my phone's better than yours, blah blah." but that is not what the OP said.

I'm interested in people's experience be they good or bad.

Good man. The only point from your first point I'd like to comment with is the one about IOS5. Plagued with bugs and especially with the last update. constant network fallout's. (Experience of myself on 3gs and several friends on I4s at least).

Just came over to Android myself and despite some teething problems with the handset I absolutely love how damn indie the phone feels. The apps available are what ive been looking for on Itunes for a long while. And while hacking your iPhone may help , I didn't ever want that risk. Heck with what 2.3 brings to the table there is little that even interests or pulls me to Root my Galaxy. Great first impressions.

I've been using iOS5 Beta on my iP4 since the day it was released - never suffered drop-outs or anything of the sort. For that matter, neither have any of my friends/colleagues with the same FW. It's pretty good for beta.

As for the OP: I think maybe you just suffered a little blip with the GS2 and panicked. I've been through three different Android handsets between iPhones - this is the first time I've resisted the urge.
I've lost too much money on Android devices, whereas my iPhones always hold strong money. My guess is that you'll keep hold of the GS2 until the iP5 comes out - then you'll sell it (beware, it'll have dumped an alarming amount of cash by September - for a

I could not stand it anymore and went back to my Blackberry. Lack of real notifications is a deal killer for me. I want a REAL LED (not noled) and more adjustable notifications. I will miss the CPU and screen until the 9900 arrives, if i live that long!

Only thing keeping me away from apple products is Itunes.

That product is so slow and awful, and the fact that you have to use it instead of simple and functional drag and drop will keep me from apple products.

Can't stand syncing devices, never have, never will. Only thing you'll ever catch me syncing is contacts as it's a nice way to back them up.

What, seriously? The lack of an LED was enough to swap a great phone like the SGS2 for a Blackberry of all things?

I'm not having a go at you, I'm just really surprised.

My employer provides me with a Blackberry and it's the most boring and uninteresting device imaginable. I don't even know what model it is - it's so tedious that I've never bothered to check. It's a work phone, so that is to be expected, but I might literally cry if I had to use that all the time instead of my SGS2.

In the unlikely event that you really do need to know about the arrival of a text or email literally immediately, can't you just set audible notifications? Otherwise, why not just check manually every half an hour? It would do wonders for your blood pressure not to be staring at your phone every second.

+1 biffsmash. not JUST itunes but i really dont like it at all. given it ago 3 different times over the years to see if they fixed it. still hate it. never going back.

mine gets hot too rudedawg, some games get hotter than other, but not scolding hot.
i want to feel some other peoples phones to know differences.
(in a completely non sexual way that is.....)
