Android phone with a regular keypad?

is there an android phone with a regular keypad (not the QWERTY one).
my problem is, i only have one hand, and my thumb is too fat to text with the touchscreen.
and the QWERTY keypad is too big...

Well they're all qwerty, but the are a few newer phones out with a hardware/slide out physical keybord. Do you currently have a cellular carrier? United States?

yep. t-mobile.
i'm considering a side kick but am concerned it'll be too big.
see, i hold the phone with my 1 hand - my left. i used to be right handed. (ironic, huh?) and press the buttons with my thumb.
as you can imagine (or try it yourself), it's cumbersome. i can NEVER hit the right touch screen buttons and i'm worried the QWERTY keyboard will be too big for my thumb to reach all the keys.

Yeah i can imagine the difficulty. The one thing that did come to mind was voice commands, but im not sure how well it works to be honest, cuz i rarely use it :-(

You could also look into Swype (regarding an on screen keybord), cuz i often type out text messages with my thumb using Swype. Im a little unfamilliar with what phones T-Mobile is selling right now, but i will take a look.

One thing I would 100% recomend is go into a store and try the phone out before you buy it.

Keyboard on the sidekick actually doesnt look that big (compared to my phone and others i have seen). I would honestly recomend going to a store and play with a demo and see what it feels like. You can also ask people that own the phone what they keyboard is like in the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G forum (Im having trouble copying the link on my tablet).

I would look into the Droid pro too, has a blackberry style keyboard.

yeah,they have a few, but i'm not sure if it would work.
i see myself accidentally pressing the wrong first key then it would ALL get messed up.
i live in a hospital and can't get out to check some out at a store first, which is why i'm trying to figure it out here.

You can switch to the old style keyboard on some Android phones, I know you can on my Desire HD.

Yep my Orange San Francisco has this, as does my wifes LG Optimus One. My chum at work has the option on his HTC Wildfire S as well.

Mate, for your sake, don't make your life harder than it currently is.
Seriously, get a BlackBerry Pearl which has an awesome QWERTY keyboard but the one with two letters on a number, like 1 = QW, 2 = ER, 3 = TY, and so forth. That would be PERFECT for you. Like this: BlackBerry Pearl 8100 pictures, official photos

The only thing is that the one above is pretty old, but I'm sure you can find another, I know there's one from Nokia.

i hear ya man.
i'd RATHER have a blackberry, but for medical reasons, i have to have an android.
and as good as it looks, t-mobile doesn't carry the chacha. =/

Google "HTC IME" it has the option to put the keyboard as a normal qwerty, compact qwerty(like the blackberry pearl) OR a phone keypad(think older flip phones)
