Tip - "HOW DO I" Settings with Android

i am using files on the sd card. as far as using it as a hard drive, i don't think i am doing that, as least not intentionally because i didn't know that was an option. but it made me think of something else - if i have it connected to my computer i noticed the sd card "disappears" i wonder if while i was trying to set it up i had it connected to charge it, then after i left the house it started working. the more i think about that, the more i think that is what happened.

i have them on the SD card because that was suggested in another forum to have them appear on the selection menu when i am in the other apps setting up ring tones. is there another way to get them to show up as an option if i don't have them on the SD card? if there is i am thinking i would prefer that to avoid issues like this.

The only other way to have them on the rom would be to cook them into the rom you are using. I wouldn't know were to start to do that.....well I have some idea but its complicated and you would need to know how to cook roms. So that the tones are in the rom before you flash. I have only used one kitchen but wasn't too interested in cooking.

i am not much of a chef, so i would rather not even go near that kithcen!!! i dont want to change careers and become a mason so i could use the phone in the next chimney i build!

That being said, if you do NOT want or have the ability to freeze the stock messaging app, I run ChompSMS (basically same as Handcent) with the stock messaging app UNTOUCHED and don't have any problem with needing to open both apps. I have shut off EVERYTHING on the stock messaging app....Go to Messages

I need some help, figured this was a decent spot to ask.

How do I set different ringtones for different things? Like one for texts, then one for phone calls? I can't figure it out.

each app has their own settings. except for the exchange and pop mail app. For all the rest you should be able to find ringtone/notification settings in each app. For the Mail app its in the main system sound settings.

I just helped my niece put one of her songs as the notification for text messages, but it only plays for a few seconds and is followed by the default notification sound. How do I remove that default sound and extend the playing time of the notification. This is on an EVO 4G.

After posting this a while ago (stating that I have BOTH my 3rd party SMS and stock SMS running rather than freezing the stock SMS) I realized that I have a BIG reason to keep the stock SMS around. For some reason, my ChompSMS will not properly play "slide shows" in messaging. The last slide shows for a SPLIT SECOND. So, for me, I HAVE TO very rarely launch the stock SMS to view slide show messages.

Here is what I do. Set the Notification sound to "Silent" in the System Settings menu. Then open the "Messaging" application and change your Notification sound there to the loud mp3 you have. Then change any email notifications you have too from within your email application. This way you get no sound when the battery is full, but are still notified when a text or email comes in.

To delete All Emails in the Mail app with HTC Sense UI on Froyo 2.2:

1. When viewing the list, do MENU/DELETE then screen updates showing check box next to each entry.

Do MENU/MARK All/ then click DELETE button

2. Works similar for Text Threads in the Message App, just select MENU/ DELETE then MENU again to see DELETE ALL

Take a look at the app Quickpic in the Market. Lets you select multiple photos, copy, delete or move. As you move you can create new folders. Its free too.

2. How do you transfer Pictures from Computer to EVO and vice versa via USB?

(Yes download Handcent from the Marketplace great messaging app lets you have different sound and icon notifications)

(Plus in EVO to PC select use as disk drive and go to the drive letter and your pictures should be in a DCIM folder I believe and you can transfer to your pc and you can even make a pictures folder on your card and add pics from PC to there.)

I want to know how to back up my Handcent settings so when I get new EVO all my bubbles backgrounds and settings and colors and everything will stay the same so I don't have to reconfigure everything. And like Angry Birds is there a folder maybe that went to Astro and if I copy over the same folder to new phone after downloading Angry Birds will it save my settings there and know where I was? Same with Zedge I have a saved Zedge folder with ringtones and backgrounds and I put it on my tablet cause I wanted some of the notification sounds and they were on the card on Astro but I didn't see them when I opened up Zedge.

Anyone know how to Factory Reset the EVO? I looked online and it used to be under privacy. I held down the volume down button and power but didnt work either.. I am selling my evo and i cant figure out how to reset the thing.. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Edit: Nevermind.. its under SD & phone storage.

Anyone know why his EVO 4G connected to his home wifi and then he got the EVO 3D won't connect and he hasn't done anything different to his network. But it connected at my house last night.

Every once in a while, with my ff (fat fingers), I will touch something that will pull up a screen and I can never figure out what I touch to make this happen. One of them is the RECENT screen. How do I get to that screen again.

Not sure...I got 2 new evo 3d's and have no issues connecting to wifi. I do know there is a setting in wifi to improve performance....this might turn on the "N" capability. It might good for him to see if his wireless router is only broadcasting "N" as well.

Oh his wifi has been working for a while now. He just had to stick a pin in the back of his modem and reset it.. Thanks Though
