Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

Quick question. Can you charge your phone while doing this? I'm a junkie too no need to worry about me doing the battery yank, but I've never tried to charge while doing a flash before. (dont worry I have plenty of juice) oh and it wants to play... :)

to be honest i never had a problem charging my phone while flashing, but remember every ascend is different.

Ok so up and running. Haven't signed in to Google account yet cuz I wanted to turn on wifi, but wifi is still doing the 20 second reset again!! So you said to reset and configure the router? What do mean exactly by configure? I turned off both the modem and the router last time but I didn't configure anything.

tap your router name on the phone and tap forget, than try to connect to your router again, also is your router PW protected, and what kind of router do you have.

No go it's doing the same thing. It connects fast and stays on for about 20 seconds and then disconnects and reconnects again. I turned off the router and modem and forgot and configured the phone's memory of the signal. This is just weird.

one more thing, have you tried updating your router firmware, see alot of post from users saying that did the trick. or either try changing channels, put it on channel 11 on router.

EDIT: do this on your phone, go to settings/ wifi settings, hit the menu button and tap advance, now tap use static IP

tried static IP, no go. Tried to update firmware, no updates. Even tried setting it outside the DMZ firewall which I do for the xbox for online play. No change. Its like its hyperactive. Would there be anything I could do from the dev tools on the phone?

Friggin awesome man the instructions in the thread were mint and with the static IP all is well. We need to get this noted in the WIKI so others are aware its not the ROM thats the issue. BTW I live in Lewisville and if you ever need another phone to test I would love to help. Thanks for all the help!

Can you point me to the instructions that you found. This thread is so long I cant seem to find them. I did try static IP at one point, but it did not work. Maybe I did something wrong.

Edit: I think I found it.
Update: Did not work. Even tried setting up the router to allow mac address from phone, no go:(

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Codawg. I tried .4 , .11 , and a few others still no go. I even went up to Starbucks and could not connect their either. It seems like it must be a hardware issue between my phone and build 05212011. Its a shame because 05212011 rocks, its super-fast on my phone. Back to 05142011 again. lol

Thanks again

Hey all.
Just wanted to say hi. I just got an Ascend on monday and have already flashed 3 roms now...next up is KMod. Everything seems to work for me so far. I'm a forum noob (here). Thank you all for this hard work you do! Hopefully I can contribute some but I don't code :) I love to tinker and modify stuff though. Well, I'm off to start KMod.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Nuttmegg. I put the latest release of CM7 on my Ascend last night and overall it is great, but I couldn't get the wi-fi to work. Wifi kept connecting then disconnecting then cycling like that on my home network. After reading through most of the pages on the thread I finally just unplugged my router and rebooted my phone, hit forget on my home network, then remember and wifi is working now. Didn't have to configure or download new router firmware, but that is a good idea.

Thank you everyone who worked on this build for the Ascend and it is much, much better than the stock software.

Thanks again.:p:p:p:p:p
