Well, it finally happened ...

I remember the day my droid got messed up. I was at the beach and some kid decided to throw my droid into the water while I wasn't looking. Boy did I want to kill him but obviously I didn't. It hit me right then and there that my days with the OG were over. I am out of replacements on Asurion somehow and I can't seem to find another OG for cheap. I even tried finding a droid incredible but those are still pretty expensive. Now I'm stuck with my super ancient blackberry that shuts off every 2 minutes while trying to watch a movie on its terrible screen.

I'm a little late to chime in on this one, but I recently ran into the same issue (dropped my Droid, screen cracked but still worked). Amazon has the Droid touch screen for about $25 w/ free shipping. Looks like there are only a couple left.

Amazon.com: Verizon Motorola Droid A855 Touch Screen Digitizer Replacement Glass Repair Part: Electronics

I ordered it and a cell phone repair shop nearby installed it for $40. So I was able to fix it for $65. Even if I end up getting a replacement by the end of the year, it was worth it for me to get it fixed rather than upgrade too soon. I think I'm going to be using my Droid until Motorola releases a phone running Ice Cream Sandwich.

If Motorola secures the bid for the next Nexus phone, I will be a VERY happy man.

That's certainly cheaper than the repair shop I found. They had the glass and would have charge $85 all in all. Wasn't feasible when I could replace the entire phone for $50 with Asurian. But if you didn't have insurance, def a good way to go.

And Motorola Nexus phone would be pretty freaking sweet.
