If and when I get an ivite, I may not even know what to do with it :p I have read a ton of posts about this and it sounds great! Especially if it could save me from paying VZW $10 monthly for texts. I will see if I can figure out how to set it up though, sounds kind of confusing. My calling plan is $39 for 450 min and $10 for 500 texts, will I be able to benefit from GV?

Yeah. It's actually those that text a lot that may find it a bit annoying. It has to go fetch your texts from an inbox, much like the Gmail, except I don't think it's pushed. So you can set increments on how often it should check for it. I think the most frequent one, other than manually checking it, is like..15 minutes? 10 minutes? Not bad, but if you have conversations, you'll have to wait or constantly manually check.

You will also have another number, which will be associated to your VZW number, but it's a number Google gives you. So you will have to let your friends know about this new number. You can choose whatever number you want, assuming it's available. I had mine as "SMACKY1" and it's great telling people to call me at that number.

Hi Guys! So I signed up for google voice using a google number. I downloaded the voice application from the market and installed it to my droid. I have tried making the setting ask every time I make a call AND use google voice for every call but it is not working! It just makes the cal through Verizon. I do not get the google voice notification at the bottom of the current call screen! Any ideas?! Thanks!

It sounds like your using the Google Voice widget that lets you toggle your outgoing number between Google's and Verizon's. Either way you use Verizon minutes... the only difference is which of your numbers (Google or Verizon) appears on the recipient's phone caller ID. Are you saying your Google calls don't show up on your GV outgoing history?

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure you need an internet connection when making calls on your phone, otherwise you get an error message. This is why it was taken down from the Apple App Store. People would get the cheapest voice plan with no text, and use Google Voice on their wifi or 3G and not use any minutes and gave them free texts.

This is what I thought. You may be right. I thought it was like using Skype, though.
