Help Yahoo Mail Stopped Working

Found the solution today! If you use regular free Yahoo mail then this fix will work. If you use Plus you might want to check and see if these POP settings work for you as well.

THIS DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM! This is more of a temporary workaround to the issue. Having Asia set as your default location is not the solution and messes with the timezone etc. There is clearly a bug here that we need to fix. I have been trying to consolidate the threads on this to the HTC manufacturer forum. Yahoomail Intermittent Outage on HTC Phones

Having the same problem. I stopped receiving yahoo mail approximately 2 days ago using the built in android mail app. I can send mail. For what it is worth, I am on a rooted phone and I have never done an update of anything (firmware/software/or otherwise) since I got the phone roughly 10 months ago. I am on android 2.2, kernel version 2.6.32.15.

I have a friend on verizon with an HTC Incredible having the same problem with the built in mail app and yahoo mail as well.

Exactly. The HTC mail app uses imap which is what works with free yahoo accounts and had been working up until recently.

Setting to Asia doesn't effect your time zone. Hopefully this is a temp workaround, but what if yahoo is pulling its support and wants everyone to use its own mail app instead? I tried the Yahoo Mail App. It sucks.

It does impact time zone settings in other areas of yahoo and my.yahoo not everywhere I have used it as a work around in past. The mail app sucks but I highly doubt that yahoo is doing this intentionally. Yahoo is bleeding users to gmail and in direct competition with it. So screwing users to promote their free app would drive away more users. It is just illogical they never did this with bb and have not done it with the ipad, ipod or iphone. My friends account I am testing works fine on BB and my ipad with the built in apps. It also works fine with K9 on her HTC Inc just not through the stock android app regardless of what the settings are. Yahoo does not have its own phone os like google so it does not make sense for them to find another way to drive away users. They just care about retention. However, Google has no real incentive to rush out and support yahoomail in android since users are more likely to switch to gmail before they switch their phone.

I'm experiencing the same thing using an HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon Wireless. HTC Mail v3.0.xxxx.

The mail is from a personal domain hosted on Tucows - not sure if they have farmed some of that out to Yahoo or what (or vice versa) - but seeing the exact same thing.

I downloaded K-9 and that app works. Will keep digging ....

If you have not checked, yahoo mail is now working again. Mine started working tonight out of the blue. No settings were changed. I have been badgering Sprint for info and they have not provided anything more than "they are working it". Everytime I called I reference the number of people on the forum. Looks like we are good to go until next time.

Yup, I saw it was working this morning with my massive influx of emails from one of my accounts.

However, I think it went down again.   as I am getting the "login failed" message. I tried sending an email from my other working Yahoo account to the non-working yahoo account. No luck.

So....I guess everyone is back to square one?

This is not just an HTC issue, I have a Motorola Droid X and the auto fetch feature of the native email application is not working. What's worse is that I can't even find the Yahoo account under manage accounts to delete it. My guess is that since there have been no posts since early July the problem has been solved and I'm just late to the party.

It's not solved for me. I still don't have Yahoo mail on my Droid 3 since August 18, but have plenty of emails when I log in with my computer.
