Help Battery life on new Charge

New owner. Been through 5 complete battery drains and complete charges to full. I have MS Exchange pushing my work email, gmail pushing, and I run the stand alone Yahoo app for push. Nothing else is syncing via the syncing screen.

Brightness is set to 20% (auto brightness off). I am also using the toggle that turns 4g off and keep it on 3G all the time when out.

In addition, I have no widgets in use except the clock/weather bug one and the built in task killer widget.

My battery lasts about 6 hours at most with moderate use. This is my second phone as I exchanged the first one thinking it was broken. Am I missing anything here?

Oh, stock phone - not rooted.

Thanks all!

Sounds considerably short to me... why don't you route all the emails through Gmail and pick them up there? One app pushing and you can set it to answer from the email address it was sent to.

If I am playing with my phone a bunch I can kill it in a few hours, with no problem... but, if I just have email being synced with a handful of text messages and short calls it will last 16 hours or so.

Today my sister in law played with it for an hour and I texted a bunch back and forth with my wife while I was out... 67% battery life by 1pm (after taking it off charger at 9am).

Just depends on use. The phone is great, buy an extra battery, car charger and have fun with it. I bought OEM Samsung battery on eBay (new) for $14.91 shipped to my door.

I use gmail, yahoo, and my company email. Nothing can be forwarded to gmail it seems - except Yahoo if I pay $20.00 to get Yahoo Mail Plus. I refuse to do that since this should not be an issue. Is there a secret way to get Free Yahoo to forward to Gmail?

You have to logon to Gmail through a PC in order to get all of your accounts to go through Gmail. I did this with all of my personal accounts since I do not like the default email app for the Charge.

I posted here yesterday about the same battery issue. I used a BB Storm II before and I could ride it hard and hang it up wet without a charge for a day and half if not longer. I wasnt used to the battery life issue with the Droids.

First thing: I posted earlier that if you go into VZ (and be extremely nice) but let them know that you believe that it is unfair of them to sell a $300 phone without explaining the issue with battery and then ask for an additional $50 to fix the problem that they will help you. I got a new dock charger and an extra battery for $21

Second: Play with the settings but expect to get about 6-8 hours of use on a full charge. It sucks but I was told they dont have a battery designed to handle 4G. I dont have everything forwarded to one e-mail because I cant risk a work email being sent from gmail but I did turn off sync to Facebook, changed launchers, used a black wallpaper, turned off wifi and bt and it is getting better battery life. I am not an expert on the phones but dont pay full price for additional stuff - you should find that VZ is really nice to you if you are really nice to them.

The battery life on my phone is horrible. Much worse than my iPhone was. I bought the extended battery, but even that wasn't a match. My phone was taken of the charge at 6AM. I listened to Pandora for about 2 hours, and used navigation for about 10 minutes. I did some occasional fiddling, and by 9PM the battery was down to 7%.
