S2 gets hot very hot

I have had three SG2 units and while I have felt the phone get warm, I would never call it hot, certainly not hot enough to burn my ear!

During intensive use of the processor the phone will warm up as this is it's only way to dissipate heat. I run my WiFi 24/7 so it must be doing something with the WiFi as mine is not even warm. The transmitter/radio for the phone can also warm your device up.

There have been so many threads on the SG2 getting hot that there may be more to this but not on the three units I have used.

My phone acted very weirdly this evening. It switched itself off (i was sending a text message at the time) and then wouldn't switch back on for quite a while. When it eventually came on it was acting very erratically. Sluggish, unresponsive, the keyboard wouldn't pop up, screens closing themselves. I restarted it again but the same problem. The top corner was getting very hot and when i checked the task manager the ram was going from very low use to very high.

It's never done that before and it came out of nowhere.

i do believe it is a heat issue. iphone also shuts down due to extreme heat remember the infamous messages saying too hot to operate?

have you guys been using it outside in this summer heat? like by the pool or anywhere that it is exposed to direct sunlight in 90+ degree weather? or left in the car with windows up for over 20 minutes.

mine gets hot under these conditions and everything runs sluggish until i power off let it cool down and reboot. by sluggish i mean not smooth scrolling of web pages and home screens

The only time I have noticed my SGS2 getting warm is when doing intense gaming and having it plugged in, charging at the same time. It will then (kind of understandably) get warm - but not hot!
During normal use, WiFi on constantly, updates in background and so on, it doesn't get warm at all. I have it in a rubbery protective case.
