Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

I am sorry I don't follow you, what is v2.0 RCO? I just followed the instructions to flash the phone from the 1st post, So I assumed that it would be current?

v2.0 is an experimental version, even though it's said as experimental, it still works stable and smooth. You can find it under the 'SwiftDroid v2.0 Experimental Version:' section:)

About a week ago, my phone started feeling a little hot (borderline uncomfortable to touch actually) afte about 60-90mins of usage. Blaming it on the OCing, I set it back down to 600/600 from 752/900 and plugged it for recharging. After that, it never worked again: it would boot up to the second animation (the one of the robot with a circular arrow around it), which would appear twice and then the phone would freeze. A ClockWorkMod factory reset would not work. Could maybe something be done in fastboot to try and fix this?

You changed the min setting in SetCPU? You shouldn't do that, you should leave it at 245MHz.. If you want to keep your data I suggest trying this:

  1. Make a nandroid backup of your phone through recovery
  2. Reinstall CM7 using the auto .exe or manually through fastboot not through recovery
  3. Boot back into recovery and go to backup & restore>advanced restore>select your backup>restore data>yes
  4. Now reboot and it should all be okay again :D

also When connecting the phone to my computer to copy files, and I select the notification for USB Connected it does not mount the files for the computer to use? Any thoughts?

You probably have Swapper2 installed, download Titanium Backup and uninstall Swapper2, you won't need it. That's what's stopping from mounting your SD card :)

I also just flashed to put 2.2 on, I used OpenSwift 2.2 and Mobile Data still does not work. I have tried texting o2 at 2020 with ACTIVE to recieve the settings, this does not work, and inputting the apn manually does not work.

Any Ideas?

Does anyone else have o2 pay and go internet on the GT540 and it is working?

Cheers,

Luke

Damn that's really weird.. I used to be on O2 PAYG, internet was working fine.. Now I'm on Vodafone but I guess that's irrelevant. I can't think of anything else to try, maybe someone else could?

On 2.2 I had the same issues, So I tried to put 2.1 back on it, and neither worked. The Software update, says finished, and the phone reboots but stays on the Android Logo Screen and then resets the screen every few min.

Can you revert back to the 2.1 version?

It still has the fast boot on it, so I am just going to flash to 2.3 and cross my fingers someone might have an Idea of how to fix the mobile data.

So any ideas would be awesome, as the mobile data does not work on 2.2 or 2.3, and 2.1 does not seem to work. I have tried inputting the APN manually but it does not save, so maybe the settings are wrong? If anyone has better settings for o2 pay as you go internet?

Cheers in advance,

Luke

I got a question. It's not some huge problem but still, when I open the menu for adding widgets the only widgets that are shown and possible to add are those which were automatically installed in this rom. No matter which widget i install from the market myself, it's not possible to use EXCEPT for "Fancy Widget".

Also one more small question, after flashing this rom, one of the applications installed automatically called "QQ Player" wont work, wont even start. It shows that error that the application has stopped unexpectedly i has to force close. Not that I need the app, but it would be nice if I could fix it, and if not tell me how to delete it. Thank you! :)

Hmm.. I seem to be fine with Beautiful Widgets.. What version of SwiftDroid you on?

QQPlayer is a video player, I think it just glitches, it did for me. Download Titanium Backup from the Market to uninstall it, then if you want it reinstall it :)

I figure it out. My mistake, the setting for the apps installation was to install them on external memory which is ok but not for widgets. All widgets must be installed on internal memory, I just forgot on that. Thanks anyway!

And thank you for telling me how to remove "QQ Player". Cheers! ;)

Hey, I made a post about my skype app closing, and didnt get any replies, but I have worked out that the problem is due to lack of RAM, currently my phone says it has 7.1MB free RAM, I was just wondering if this is from cyanogen RC0, because my only running services are Skype, Weatherbug, Google Services, DSPManager and Android Keyboard.

So can anyone tell me if CM7 RC0 is much more RAM intensive than M6, which I dont beleave I had a problem with and if there are any plans to lower CM7 RAM usage in a future update?

Thanks

I have the latest version of this rom but I got a new sim and It won't let me get to the unlock screen to unlock my phone from its current carrier. I was wondering if there is a way to unlock a phone with this rom.

Basically: I do have an unlock code but I don't know where I can enter it.

Do I have to downgrade? And if so could ye post instructions on how to downgrade in more detail to the default 1.7 rom that LG had. Or Meteor(IE)

My phone is locked to Meteor Ireland by the way.

Please help! - Trusttouch

Also I don't have the APN settings for three (IE) which is the network I'm trying to move to.

nandroid backup is something done with ClockworMod, right? If so, I am screwed: as it turns out, the phone now shuts down right after the white LG logo...I will try just installing the latest SwiftDroid, hopefully that will work. If not, I will try having the carrier give me a new one: how can I reset everything back to original settings in a situation as particular as this?

Yeah it's when you make a backup in recovery.. How long does the logo stay on for? Have you tried to boot into recovery?

If all else fails, try putting the phone in download mode (volume down [or volume up, I can't remember] then power on) and change PhoneMode in KDZ updater to CS_EMERGENCY then try to flash a fastboot KDZ. Good luck!

Hello everyone, first of all thanks for the guides and ROMs etc.

I'm having trouble flashing the 2.3 ROM to my phone. I followed the first guide on how to install with Fastboot with the KDZ updater and the software went through and successfully completed.

Then when the phone rebooted I checked the version and it was still 2.1 update. The only difference on the phone was that my apps were missing and most of the bundled stuff did 'Force Close'

I have since done a factory reset so that I had a working phone and it's back to the original 2.1 update.

So do I need to do the process again? Also the phone doesn't seem to be rooted anymore.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You gotta continue reading on, after installing the fastboot kdz, you boot the phone into fastboot mode and install 2.3. It's all in the first post :)
