Which do you think is better?

I can't even get youtube videos to load properly with Sprint's slow 3G in my zip code. WiFi at home (Time Warner Cable Turbo Road Runner).

It all depends on what sort of internet connection is on the other side of that WiFi.

If its 768k DSL... or a 3G MiFi... I'd just stick with Sprint 3G.

If its something decent, go with WiFi.

Lets make this a little more interesting. What if you have an Airvana from Sprint. Would 3G better to use than WiFi. Also, what about battery usage - which method uses more?

Wi-Fi networks speeds vary, but they are usually significantly faster than 3G. This phone also has 4G, ya know.

I have Airvana. just tested at 6:01 am EDT.

Airvana- ping 96ms down-552kbps up-600kbps.

wifi (comcast)- ping 86ms down-9101kbps up-4684kbps

Can't use the 4G if it isn't in your area.

I here ya. I live in a spot where 4g is going to be a while getting too. Even if i had it i still would use wifi for the battery savings.

Airvana = ping 152ms, down 1492kbps, up 682kbps

WiFi (Cablevision) = ping 19ms, down 17618kbps, up 5653kbps

WiFi is considerably faster and more stable, but the Airave speeds are still pretty decent considering.

For comparison purposes, this is my home computer (wired network):

We need to all remember that a Wi-Fi network is only as fast as the ISP. You could have dial-up or basic DSL and have a Wi-Fi network that is slower than the 3G network, which averages 1 Mbps down in my area.

That's obviously wireless-N you're using.

If you're on Cablevision, you also probably have Boost, too. The speeds I posted for my wired home computer (30/5) is pretty much the fastest you can get without upgrading to Ultra.
