I have had my X2 for about 2 weeks now, and it finally happened, I was watching either youtube or just browsing the web and it restarted on me, did it twice yesterday. It has also happened to me sometimes when I first wake up too, I will get out of bed, and my phone will reboot right off the bat.

Have to find out if I still have the 14 day trial period, the phone wasn't hot to the touch at all either time it turned off, it was just really random. Not sure if this is a phone issue or an issue with Froyo/Blur.

It is not rooted, I did ask an admin to move this for me. So that is out of the question. I was running youtube one of the times it shut down but did not notice any heat. Another time it restarted on me was after my alarm went off in the AM, I grabbed my phone, shut the alarm off, went to unlock it to check an email I had received and it went right to the dual core M screen when you first turn it on. The other time I don't remember what happened.

It is a complete stock X2, no launchers, no customized settings, just used what settings were available on the phone. It hasn't done it in the past few days so don't think it's really app related, but who knows. Hoping they announce the 2.3 release soon, very excited for that!

Restarted on me again this morning. I woke up at 2:30am to get ready for work. Phone alarm went off, no problems. Got ready and got in my car, then went to record a video of a noise in my car to show a few friends, video seemed to be recording fine, it was only about 25 seconds long, I hit stop, it froze up and restarted. Video was gone too when it rebooted. Fully charged battery, didn't use it at all otherwise besides to shut off the alarm and record the video. Hmmmm.....

And again this morning while recording a video. Sorry to keep bumping this thread, just anyone interested in this phone may have these problems. I think its time to go to Verizon?

UPDATE:

Just got back from Verizon, I actually spoke with a somewhat educated tech. Some random tech came out of the blue and started talking to me about how Gingerbread is messing up every phone, of course I said the X2 doesn't have GB, he proceeded to say, yes all the phones now have the update. I said unless 2.2 isn't froyo and out of nowhere turned into the GB update, then my phone is still on FroYo. He looked and said oh, 2.2.2, well it looks like GB, turned around and walked away.....

Meanwhile the actual tech I was working with proceeded to work with me and completel y ignore what the other tech was saying, which I didn't blame him. Anyway, the tech said, it IS a software problem, not any issues with the hardware, and they will be releasing fixes for them shortly, it is still an ongoing investigation so. It was reassuring to see on here that it is most likely software problems then hear a (what seemed to be) educated tech say the same thing.

So hopefully soon we will start seeing some issues get fixed :)

I don't blame you man, but on a good note, I did a factory reset on the phone, and it hasn't had an issue since, so I am pretty happy about that, eventually I think I am gonna jump on the HTC bandwagon for a while and check them out, I hear a lot less complaints from them, besides battery life :\ We shall see though what Motorola/Verizon does for software updates and if it fixes anything.

Here is the next update on this ridiculous thread lol

I had a few days of nothing going wrong on my phone at all after doing the factory reset. I installed about 7 apps right from the market and left it, it went well... then it started rebooting by itself in the middle of the night, waking me up. It did it more and more each night, sometimes 4 or 5 times. Well this morning I woke up and the phone had the green LED notification light blinking like I had a message, went to check it, won't turn on at all...

I left the phone just like that and flew up to Verizon, they told me since it has been past the 14 days the only thing I can do is go through the warranty and get a certified used x2.... i said bull, I JUST bought this phone brand new and it's broken, so you give me a used one? Well he went to get the manager, the manager didn't even come out, he just walked out with a brand new X2 out of the box.

So now I have another phone, brand new, we shall see if this one has the same issues or not. I hope it doesn't, I start a job on Monday and if I am late because my alarm didn't go off cause this phone shut off on me, I am gonna be pretty friggin mad! lol

Well for anyone following this or reading it, I will let you know what happens in the next few days. I am keeping minimal amount of apps on it right now to make sure it's not a problem with that. So I will let you know and hopefully the next update is good :)
