Root Can't overclock...

I switched to ADW on my Nook after Folder Organizer was flaky with LPP after my sd card died. LPP was still working great on my DroidX tho. I was considering installing ADW EX on it but instead fired up LPP and it worked great so still using it. Apparently a few updates on each app fixed the problem. :D

Was ADW EX causing problems on your Optimus too?

Keep this in mind. When using ADW EX on the stable CM7.0.3 and when using it on stock stable LG firmware, the software works fantastically and I don't have any problems.

I have the LG Optimus M which is a MetroPCS version of the Optimus One. CM7 does not officially support the Optimus M, and the firmware we have for it is a ported version from another Optimus phone. I have no idea if the original CM7 build I have for my Optimus is "stable" or not. LG also just recently released the source code for my version of the Optimus M (2.2.1 rather than 2.2) and a fresh OC kernel has only been available for a week or two. This kernel let me run fairly stable at 787 MHz which is the average it seems for this phone, but I was left with a random crash, sometimes several times an hour, that would hard lock the phone and necessitate a cold boot. I couldn't figure it out so I flashed back to stock last weekend and have been running trouble-free 'till today. I figured it was a problem with the kernel.

Cue Nook Color. I had it set up software-wise exactly like my phone at first. Running stable CM7, everything was perfect. I wanted to OC though, so I started playing around. Once I sorted out the boot issues with the OC kernel (that you helped me with) it was running fantastic as well at 1.2G. It wasn't until I had reinstalled everything and set ADW EX as my default home that things started to act up; that didn't happen 'till way late in the day after work. I thought it was just a random OC-related crash at first, until it started crashing randomly on the stock clocks, too, exactly like my Optimus.

That's when I realized it must be a common item between the two, since the behaviour was identical. After a few hours of trial and error, I narrowed it down to those two softwares I mentioned.

I ran all night and all early morning perfectly without that software. As soon as ADW EX was reinstalled and set to home, the problem came right back. I took it off and am using the included free ADW and it hasn't been an issue.

I have also since re-flashed my Optimus this morning with CM7 and the OC kernel, and it's been singing along all morning at 787 MHz with no ADW EX.

Speaking of different NC behaving differently, mine is goofy with anything other than Nightly 101 and Dal's 6/13 kernel. It seems like anytime I try to do update to anything different it
A) won't go to sleep (won't shut off the screen).
B) BURNS through battery when I do put it to sleep - in the neighborhood of 2 - 4% per hour, depending upon the set up.

I keep going to back to 101 & 6/13 because it sleeps nicely, and only uses 1 - 2% overnight (total) when sleeping. Oh well, at least I know of ONE sweet spot for it! :)

I increased my sleep % from about 60% to 85% by doing this:

  • Open spare parts.
  • Change the top drop-down to partial wake-locks.
  • See if there's apps there you don't need or don't want.

I froze dialer and Google books in TIBU. I also changed my weather app to check the weather from every 2 hours to 8 hours.

How can i install the kernel that is 925mhz?

With nightly 132, Dalingrin's O/C kernel (which goes up as high as 1600Mhz, though not safely for most) is included in the ROM. So you just need to wipe cache and Dalvik cache and install the nightly 132 and the Gapps. Once you reboot, you can use Nook Tweaks to set your min/max CPU clock speed (and the steppings in between) and the CyanogenMod Settings to set your governor. Test your settings before you check "Set on boot" in either of those. Nook Tweaks also lets you change the voltages, but I've just left mine at stock. FWIW, my min is at 275 and max at 1350, but that max won't work for everyone.

I found this interesting: xda-developers - View Single Post - [Kernel][Stock1.2][Already included in CM7] Dalingrin's OC kernel [6/30/11]

I have been running with these settings for a while now, with no problems. vary stable
