[OFFICIAL]MHL - Looks like microUSB - all HDMI info here

Sprint totally dropped the ball on this one, there is no denying that.

We should absolutely be able to buy a cable/adapter to hook our phone up to our tv. Yes, I know we can get one from T-Mobile. That is precisely why I say sprint dropped the ball. If T-Mobile can sell it, Sprint should have had it available when the phone was launched.

Same thing with the kickstand case. I actually went to several Sprint stores, in several states, and the only kickstand case I can find is a purple one by Bodyglove or Caselogic or something like that. The HTC kickstand should have been available at launch, and at the very least the purple 3rd party kickstand case they have should be available in black (or something besides purple).

the MHL adapter was avail 4 days after the phone launched officially. how is that a fail?

regardless, the adapter has been out for a while now so speaking about a couple weeks ago is moot. i would understand if the adapter is STILL not out.. :)

and i dont know if the handset could play/stream 2 full HD movies on its battery alone... that's a lot of CPU cycles that the battery has to energize. i doubt one would have much battery power left after that.. just my observation..... :)

Where is the MHL adapter available? I don't see it on Sprint's website and no Sprint store I have talked to (in 4 different states) knows what I am talking about when I ask for it. Pretty much all of them try to sell me an Evo 4G HDMI cable when I ask.

Yes, I know you can get it from T-Mobile. That's because they have their sh-- together over at T-Mobile. The same MHL adapter they are selling at T-Mobile should be for sale at every Sprint store, and should have been for sale in Sprint stores at the same time as the phone.

I am trying to find something to spend these Sprint $50 gift cards on since they won't let me use them towards my bill. But the Sprint store literally sells nothing that I want or could possibly even use.

It certainly is on Sprint's site albeit under Headsets and Speakers, Sprint - All Accessories

Wow, I hadn't seen that yet. When did they put they put that up? It wasn't there last time I checked (I might have missed it if it's under headsets and speakers) and the Sprint stores as of yesterday still don't have it in stock.

$40? Ouch!

Been there awhile. No clue though.
If it's been there a while, then that makes it even worse. Seriously, yesterday I called a bunch of Sprint stores in the 5th state (said 4th earlier but it's really the 5th state) and they literally had no idea what I was talking about. I got the usual "If it's just a regular micro HDMI we have it" and a few tried to tell me "Yeah regular micro HDMI works, it looks exactly like Micro USB."

If this thing has been for sale on the Sprint website the whole time, they should absolutely be trained on it.

I'm curious, do any of the Sprint stores in your area have it in stock or even know what you're talking about when you ask for it?

No idea if the local stores have it but the store I go to when I actually do need something fast (I do everything online) was explaining to customers on launch day what the port was and what would be needed for HDMI out and that they would carry it shortly after it was available online. I guess mileage varies between stores. But it is available online, no real reason to go check stores.

Well, no real reason to check stores other than the fact I have (4) $50 Sprint gift cards that can only be used in stores...

like many, I preordered in the store. I then bought mine online when they announced that premiere customers could order online early. And of course Sprint is telling me the only place I can use the $200 in gift cards is in the store. So in my case, there is a very real reason to check the stores.

No I meant no real reason for me to check the stores. I get why you need to.

i stated in my post it was avail on the 28th of june. you can only get it thru telesales.

you can get the adapter via expansys, t-mo and possibly fleabay. they all do the same thing.

yes its unfortunate the store reps are not educated on it. give them time and they will. and shame on you for not looking here first for info.. :D

Yeah I should have definitely came here first, lol. I would have too, but it wasn't that easy.

I went on a trip right after I got the Evo 3D. And almost everywhere I went, my Sprint service (which is what I was relying on for personal use internet) was crap.

Normally though, you guys already know I would have been reading every thread on this site's Evo 3D section, every day.

I still don't get Sprint pricing the adapter twice as high as t-mo. Worse, the picture shows it with an hdmi cable, as do other sites selling the same model, but so far as I know, only the adapter comes with the order - and hdmi cables aren't 20 bucks.

Hopefully the price quickly drops with the lack of sales...I too would like to know it if is just the adapter or if it comes with the cable. I am curious as to why a normal HDMI cable is so expensive. It depends where you get them too, I suppose. You can get some for $5-15 on Amazon. Luckily I have a spare still (though I'm not sure if it is 1.4 for 3D).

I ended up ordering a Samsung MHL adapter off daydeal for $20 today, think I got the last one though.

The thing that bothers me is Sprint sells the adapter for $40, T-Mobile sells it for $20, and if you get a Samsung GS2 or Infuse then it comes with the phone. I love Sprint and all but selling it for $40 is kind of a rip, and I really wish HTC would have just included it so we could use it right out of the box.

So, I'm not clear...is the 3VO's output to TV more varied than that of what you could do with the EVO?

Yep. To output everything on the Evo you had to root and install an app for it. Even then, there were two apps and user debate over which was better. Neither existed for months.

The 3vo just works out of the box.

Is it possible to do audio output (without video) through the MHL?

I'd love to be able to plug in just one cable to charge and have audio in my car. It's annoying to have to plug in two separate cables every time.

I don't have an HDTV so I can't convince myself to buy the MHL cable, really, unless I could use it as described above.

Thanks!
