Accessories Droid X extended battery

Ok so I got the gorilla 3500 mah battery. It is substantially thicker but in a weird way I don't mind it however, at least using it one day I am dissapointed, it doesn't seem any better than the Verizon extended battery. Maybe it needs to go through a few cycles first.

You need to charge your battery to 100%, delete your battery stats in recovery (advanced menu), then boot back into your X and unplug your charger, then run it dead *. Only then will your battery % be accurate. This goes for the extended battery as well.

* Note, it will take about 5 minutes before your phone will be bootable after running it dead so don't panic. :D

Thanks, I am not rooted, can I still delete my battery stats?

I believe any app that deletes stats would require root.

Just run it until it shuts down (like I described) and see if that helps. Your phone is assuming you have a stock capacity battery installed. Your job is to prove otherwise. :D

Cool, thanks. I just dl'd battery left also, that may help it be more accurate.

I got over 28 hours of use out of my Droid X yesterday with this Gorilla battery and that was with full brightness and live wallpaper all day.

This battery is awesome. I am on 26 hours today and still going strong, full brightness, everything turned on. I can finally use this phone the way it was meant to be used, no more crippling features or brightness to make it last. In my opinion this is a must have accessory.

Are you still happy with the GG extended battery & hows life on it now??

Does it fit in the Droid X car mount?

I love it, it's the best "accessory" you could buy for this phone. I am routinely getting well over 30 hours on it and that is using full brightness and everything on all day (gps, wifi, bt). I can use the phone the way it was meant to be, I don't have to cripple the brightness or anything else. The only downside is that the battery widgets don't read the battery accurately. I've had it where the battery widget would say I am down to 0% but I can still go 4-5 more hours.

It will NOT fit in the stock car dock. I got a spider mount and use that.

Has anyone seen/tried the "Gorilla Gadgets" 3500 mAh battery?

Motorola Droid X 3500 mAh extended life battery

Any other feedback or reviews on the Gorilla battery? What case do you use with it? Does it make it way bulky? I would love the extra battery life, I just do not want to change the style of my phone. Currently I am enjoying the simple silicone cover and like the feel and size of it.

I bought this last week and got it shipped within a few days. I've had it for about 3 days and I LOVE THIS BATTERY! It's lasting between 28-30 hours using auto brightness, streaming Pandora about 1 hour a day, and playing Words with Friends (infamous for destroying batteries) quite often.
I used to have a case but I don't have one right now since the battery does add some thickness but I don't mind it... it sorta makes it looks like a OG Droid now. :)
The only problem I have is that the battery stats are JACKED. I have tried charging it full, deleting the batt stats, running it dead, recharging and running it dead... still all jacked up = it says it's dead but I can still run another 12 hours!

It's bulkier but it actually feels better in my hand. No case for me.

Mine fits in the stock car dock w/o the insert just fine.. and so do others'.

It won't fit in the stock car dock with the 3500 mah battery

Has anyone experienced problems with not running a battery cover at all?

I have the Moto BH6X and want to use my slim TPU case.

I thought about doing that so it would fit in my case but it turns out that the case I got which I bought at Verizon does accommodate the BH6X battery cover. I wouldn't recommend not having a battery cover though. You don't want foreign particles to get in and wreak havoc internally. Whether its dust, dirt, or even lint from your pocket you don't want it finding its way inside your phone.

I guess if you think your case provides enough protection then its your call. Personally I tend to think that the reason there is a battery cover is because its meant to be used to protect your phone so I would and do use it.

Hi everybody,
I have gotten through reading most of this thread as I am looking for an extended battery for my Droid X. I have found this one (Amazon.com: Motorola OEM Droid X / MB810 Extended Battery BH6X: Cell Phones & Accessories) and was wondering:
~ if it is actually an OEM extended battery
~ what the mAh is on this one?
~ would it be better to go with the gorilla gadgets one (even though I think the cover is way too bulky).
~ would I have to get a new charger as well? (Found this for $5 - Amazon.com: Motorola Vehicle Power Adapter micro-USB Rapid Rate Charger: Cell Phones & Accessories) (Need a new vehicle charger - Don't think the Monoprice one is cutting it)

Any info. is greatly appreciated!!

The picture looks like the OEM extended battery BH6X. I have one and it works great. The battery shows 1880/1930 mAh (not sure what the 2 numbers are), and for me, I get about 25% more juice than the standard BH5X battery which would be expected with the difference from the standard battery's mAh rating. I have purchased a spare BH5X battery off Amazon for around $5 and it was the real deal. Haven't tried the Gorilla battery...looks too bulky to me and from what I hear, there are problems getting accurate readings with the battery level meters on the DX with that battery. No, you don't need any special charger for the extended battery. However, I did purchase the one that you're looking at and it works great...also has a cool blue light in the circle where the M logo is when powered on (if you like that sort of thing). Good luck!
Edit: Also, I can't tell from the listing, but the extended battery does need a different back plate for the phone since it's about 1mm thicker. Some sell it as a set and some sell them individually.

By any chance has actually bought their extended battery from Amazon (more specifically this seller in my link?)

I bought my extended life battery from Verizon back when they had it on sale and plus I could use my corporate discount and it totaled around $28 I think, including the extended battery door. I did buy an extra standard battery from Amazon which works fine, but it was from a different seller.

I'm thinking mine arrived with about 70%. I don't think it really matters if you charge to 100% or just start using it, then recharge when it gets low. Supposedly, it is better the first couple of cycles after you charge the battery to run it down close to 0% before putting it back on the charger again.

Actually, after doing some more research I realized that the X was still thinking the old battery was still in and that's why I thought it had 40% of juice. It was really just the original batteries older readings. Gone back to root so I can calibrate the phone correctly to ensure good readings. Stock GB is horrible compared to .596 GB ;)
