Galaxy S2 i9100 HONEST short Review

Hello, I've had this cellular toy in my hands for a week. Right off the bat I'll will tell you this phone is Amazing !

Running KE4 out of the box firmware.

Pros: Very Fast, beautiful screen, good Wi-Fi , light, ergonomic design, no over heating problems reported by some haters. It may only get slightly warm, that's including the screen. Great variety of Android apps. It also plays full length movies without a hitch. Connects to Kies on my laptop promptly.

Terrific piece of electronic Art.

Cons: Very short battery life :(

Bottom line:

The Iphone 4 is garbage comparing to this portable computer. I highly recommend this smartphone. Don't hesitate, like I did after reading all of these neg reviews, which were prolly written by the Apple peeps.

Enjoy :)

Finally. Someone who actually understands WHY the battery life isn't as good and actually appreciates the small sacrifice of battery life to have a "portable computer" as you said.

Good on you. :)

There's a lot of threads here about battery optimisation and also a bug. WiFi Sharing sometimes crops up as one of the biggest battery hog, but it seems to be fixed in the most recent firmware update. Prior to updating I experienced the bug on average once a day, but since the update haven't noticed it at all.

Think yourself lucky you can update. Mine won't even connect to Kies in order to update, still on KE1 from 3 UK.

Having the same issue with outdated firmware from vodafone, these carriers really drag their heals with gettung updates out there.

seriously thinking about rooting/flashing - the litening rom seems to be an all-in-one package for amateurs like me, so seriously thinking of taking the plunge.

Harsh and a little over zealous in my opinion.
There is a clear heat issue with some of the users phones. Myself included, although, since updating to KE7 it doesn't seem as bad..
Yes, I did come from an iphone4 and to be very honest I'm absolutely glad i did.. the S2 is a fantastic unit....

Anyway.. welcome to the forum..

Having had my SGS2 for about 5 weeks so far, I am very pleased with it.

The only real drawback in my case (no heat problems for me) is the poor battery life. After a bit of experimenting, the most convenient solution for me is to have two batteries and to swap them as the first runs out. I just need to make sure that they are both charged by the morning.

The second battery cost me

I don't know, but I'm on it now to try and run the battery down so I can put it on charge and go to sleep.. But it's still half full. The only thing I've done to help the battery is take a picture with my finger over the lense and use the pic for my wallpaper. The black bits don't use power on the s2 ;)

why couldn't you just use a black wallpaper?

I have both, and enjoy both. The iphone4 is by no means garbage. It has a superior screen, battery life, and is built better.

Loving your new phone is great (loving my sgs2) but you don't have to spew such drivel to be accepted here.

Loving Androiod should NOT be a precursor to hating the iPhone.

A little parity please.

Aye, they didn't exactly consider the dust (oh, the dust) factor when they made this. Hopefully by the time I ever need to clean it, a proper disassembly guide will be around, not just taking out the battery, back shell and 1 circuit board ala youtube.

Hopefully the Q4 SII will have a better battery we can take advantage of.

I have the iPhone 4 (which I gave to my girlfriend). It is great for simple functionality, like my gf said "I just want a touchscreen phone with apps and internet.". The iPhone is great for people who really don't want to have the best functionality with their phone.

But I compared the SG2 and iPhone4, the SG2 wins on all fronts. Never had a problem, and got everything I need right of the box, unlike the iPhone 4.

I am an iPhone hater myself, but it is more on the iPhone users. If you've seen them in my country, you'll know why. Though when I first got the iPhone, I only got frustration with hair loss so I really don't like it, it is not the phone for me.

Just buy a spare battery, it's not like it's internal or anything ;)

The thing about the death grip issue is Apple did nothing but blame the user "You're holding wrong." is just too damn funny. Unless you hold it upside down or the screen facing away from you, you are never holding a phone wrong. Also getting people to buy the $50 bumper, oh yeah, good idea, not even compensate the buyer just make him buy more stuff. Also the bumper destroys the whole thinner iPhone. PFFT.
