Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

What purpose is the step "How to restore the boot logo's so you can get into recovery:" in your fantastic instructions? Is it only for displaying (showing) "Download Mode" when entering the download mode by pressing Volume Down during Power up? If I do not do this step, the "Download Mode" will not be displayed (instead of a blank screen). Is it right?

Well it's my dad's :p And it's a Parrot car kit, not 100% sure what model, but I've tried 3 different Parrot kits and they all work :)

Thanks for that. It seems that the parrot unit uses headset profile, handsfree profile, phonebook syncronisation profile and object push.

Most headsets apparently implement headset profile and handsfree profile, but they do not work at the moment.

I have also tried a headset that uses a2dp, but the phone could not play music through it.

So, it looks like the phonebook syncronisation profile may make all the difference.

Does anyone else have a bluetooth car kit that works with the phone?

i am having some pblms with this mod on my gt540,,
1) while on call volume down button is switching off the speaker..
2) while receive call the fone doesnt automatically locks.. as a result call goes on hold by touching ears..
3) some applications like Superuser, Swapper2, DSPManager, Music etc is starting automatically in the background,, m killing these processes by advance task killer bt again these processes are starting automatically.. are they necessary for the mod to run??
4) battery is draining very fast..
5) sometimes hanging when call comes,, may b cos of excessive processes running in background..

tell me what shud i do?

I know you dont need swapper, not sure about DSPManager. To uninstall system apps i think Titanium Backup works, Also Swapper was taken out of RC0 if you upgrade to that version of cyanogen

Upgrading to RC0 should increase battery life dramatically

i know i can stop or disable them bt ws thinking may be these apps are necessary for the modded 2.3 to run may they were used to overclock or something... :D
r u sure they will nt hamper the fone??

As I said you dont need swapper DSPManager seems to be used to configure sound devices, so I would keep that. Titanium Backup can be used to remove system apps.

i just upgraded to 2.3.4 and my battery gets drained really quickly. I kept it on overnight and all the battery was gone. Is there a way to fix this ? Im kinda new to this so dunno much

Did you install recovery? If you installed using the .exe installer then you have recovery installed, if not check the first post on how to install recovery.

Once you have recovery installed, try this:

  1. Put your phone on charge for at least 6 hours
  2. With your charger still plugged in, boot into recovery by holding down the home button an power on the phone
  3. Navigate to advanced>wipe battery stats>yes (It could take a while if you've never done this before)
  4. Reboot the phone and wait till it's fully loaded up, then unplug your charger

It should all be fine now! :)

Those instructions are for the people who for some reason had their boot logos stop appearing when booting the phone, those instructions fix that.

1) The setting is probably at the minimal level and can't go any quieter

2) Download Lock Screen App from the Market, then open it to allow it to be a device administrator. Then go to Settings>CyanogenMod Settings>Input>Search Key Behaviour>Check the 'Long-press search app' box>Custom application underneath>Select the Lock Screen app. Now when in call, hold the search button and it'll lock the screen :)

3) Don't use task managers. Ever. They are completely useless for the reason that your having now. The service will just start up again. Superuser is what manages what apps can have root access, don't kill it. If you don't use/need Swapper2, then uninstall it using Titanium Backup, don't keep killing it. DSPManager is the equalizer, if you don't need it, open the app and disable all the settings. You don't need to kill apps, they're started for a reason and killing them just drains your battery and wastes time because Android will just start them back up again. Task killers say that some apps are running when they aren't. To see which services are really running, go to Settings>Applications>Running Services.

4) Did you install recovery? If you installed using the .exe installer then you have recovery installed, if not check the first post on how to install recovery.

hello,

I have difficulties with fastboot. I (finally) managed to root my phone, and i tried both "V20B_00+fastboot.kdz" and "Europe Open+Fastboot.kdz", when i start the phone (while pushing the camera button), i see the first LG logo (camera button still pushed), and then i get a black screen, and nothing else happens. the connection to the pc fails if i plug the usb cable. i tried several usb ports.
The same happens with the home button.

i've got version 2.1 update 1, kernel 2.6.29, from 09 february 2011

thank you

I just updated ClockWork to 4.0.0.8 seems to be running fine, heres the link I used:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17539072/recovery_clockwork_4.0.0.8_swift.img

I applied the RC1 ZIP with the boot.img in it, and it showed no errors, does that mean it also installed the boot.img?? :O That'll save us alot of time :3

Heres Recovery link ( I used )
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17539072/SwiftDroid_v2.0RC1_recovery.zip

And the Fastboot one:

I have windows 7.
I just found out what was going wrong, i hadn't have installed the fastboot driver. it was in your links, but not in the procedure.

Now it's solved, i installed cyanogen, calls are okay, i'll have to parameter the language (it's half french-half russian), and the internet access.

Thank you

If you're on Windows 7 you shouldn't need to install any fastboot drivers...

What network are you on in which country? You'll need to set up your APN settings

The new android market on my phone :3
I quite like it, you can move your finger left and right on the screen to move between the categories, also it looks sexier xD

If you want it download this:
market-signed.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download
stick it on the root of your sd card and install through recovery :)
