Tasker Questions: GO SMS while in the car

I'm using Tasker to read my SMSes out loud while I'm in the car. I've got it working almost perfectly, but I'm having one problem:

I use GO SMS as my SMS application, and I can't seem to disable the popup while I'm in my "Car Mode."

I've tried having Tasker kill the GO SMS application when entering Car Mode, but GO SMS just won't die. I've also tried having Tasker kill GO SMS when it kicks into my "Read Text Messages" profile, but again, it refuses to die.

I don't want the popup to come up, so that I'm not tempted to reply to the text while driving. I'd like to hear it, but I definitely don't want to respond. Also, I don't want to have to click the little "X" on the pop-up: I really don't want to be distracted from driving. And I definitely need the pop-up to go away: I want the quick, one press access my Car Dock application (Car Dashboard) provides to my "Go Home" (open navigation, navigate to my home address) and to call my husband over my bluetooth device.

Any ideas how I can achieve this?

oh, and in case anyone was interested in how to achieve this particular profile:

Context > Event > Received Text
Context > App > Car Dashboard

Task > Media Volume 0 (to mute any music I have playing at the time)
Task > System Volume 9 (to make the text loud enough for me to hear)
Task > Say > Text: SMS from %SMRN: %SMSRB > Stream: System (reads the text out loud, using the system volume)

Then a task to return the media volume and the system volume to the values I had them previously set at.

In the Received Text context I would set the Priority to Highest and check the Stop Event option. This will give Tasker the best chance of intercepting the event and stop GO SMS from ever seeing it.

This didn't work, but after a couple more hours of tinkering, I think I've got it.

I've added "Kill App: Go SMS" to my "read text" profile, but added it under the task to read the sms out loud. The pop-up still comes up, but after it's been announced Tasker is able to kill the pop-up.

I think the problem was that Tasker couldn't kill GO SMS while it was running in the background, but can kill any foreground window it opens.

While I would prefer to avoid the pop-up entirely, I guess this will have to do.
