yeah it could be causd by an app.. also, it happens mainly on older firmware.. which firmware are u using? (settings/about/build )i havent noticed heating on any of the newer firmwares.. although if its an third party app bug, it could happen
ur twitter battery usage is also suspicious. 79% for anything other than android OS is very strange.. i'd monitor that if i were u
Well I did monitor it and the usage is back to normal. Right now, the highest is Calls which is at 30% and it seems to be normal as I was on the phone all day. The battery is at 37% after 11 hours of use + WiFi+3G which is a first!
About the firmware, the build number shows me Gingerbread.XWKF3 and the Android version is 2.3.3. Is that the latest or does it need an update?
Guys I am also facing the same problem with my phone & most importantly all the sets i have seen so far in INDIA have this heating problem on wifi. i bought it 15 days back , got for my frn as well next week.Just put on the wifi start browsing or start wifi direct n u will notice instant heating.
Went to samsung service they flashed it to KE2 from KE4 saying its newer, but it does not help either.
Pls reply if it needs a replacement being a hardware bug.
i have same problem with my s2
This worked for me, see if it helps you...
Start your WiFi / 3G and let each app update itself. Check your battery usage (Settings > Applications > Battery Usage) for anything that seems out of the ordinary. If there's an app which is taking more battery than it should be, uninstall it and install it again. (In my case it was twitter.)
Check for an app which may be taking more memory (RAM) than usual.
Remove any apps which you may have installed using a .apk file download from a rapidshare, filetube, etc. (I had a few stupid games.)
When it turns hot, switch off your phone and turn it on after 10-15mins and it should be fine.
I'm not sure which one (if at all) worked but I did all this and now my phone works fine. Hope it works for you'll too!
Luck
