Music Uploaded to Eris Skipping

Welcome to the Forums :)

Maybe your default music player is somehow corrupt. {If it is a factory reset should sort that out}.

But before considering maybe you should try it in a different music player like "MixZing music player" free off the Android market and see if the problem persists. Another suggestion is to re-upload the songs to your SD :)

Hmm, I'm seeing this on some songs in a big music library (9GB) that I copied from my Mac to the new 16GB card on the Eris via USB...

Gonna try resetting the phone first, then replaying on MixZing, and finally reloading. I'm also wondering it it may have something to do with playing back .m4a files vs. mp3 files (both should play fine, but need to see if there's a relationship).

BTW, the HTC player is kinda cheesy. No EQ setting, doesn't play albums in the order I moved them in from iTunes, and navigating it is kinda non-intuitive. Unfortunately MixZing isn't much better (wrong album covers, etc).

Thanks, be back with some findings... :)

My phone is also beginning to do this.

IMO, it may have something to do with the bit-rate. I have v0 rips and I've noticed they (99%) skip somewhere in the first few seconds of playing. Examining the fluctuation in the bit rate shows that's also a point at which it seems to peak; perhaps the combination of switching songs and a high bit rate (possibly 256kbps+) results in a skip.

My issue seems to come from other application notifications during music playback. I am using the HTC Droid Eris's standard music player. I have noticed this skipping when new text messages are received or emails. I think it may also have something to do with open programs. Maybe just too much memory usage. I can solve it for a while but closing all open programs using jkAppSwitch and then shutting the phone off completely and restarting.
