Root New Market

You can get an inverted (black) version here: Market 3.0.26 optimized - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum.

I'm running it on my NC and OG Droid now. A note about the current version of the inverted Market, though -- they're still working on getting it to pick up a white text color on some of the screens, so unless you're running a theme that changes the text color to white or something light (light blue in my case), the app names can be challenging to read.

Moving any app to sdcard is asking for trouble. Lots of documented cases of apps that crash or even reboot your device when the usb cable is plugged into your computer.

How are you trying to install it, by opening it with Root Explorer or a similar app?

Did you try fixing permissions in Rom Manager?

Did you try clearing data in Settings.... Applications... Market (I think there's two Market apps there), then open old Market, then installing? or install without opening old Market or something similar to this?

Never had the USB cord attached at all. I am now trying the suggestions you listed. Will report back. Thanks!! Using Astro File Manager to install btw.

Update: Tried all methods and nothing. Same message. New Market will not install. It has upgrade or uninstall buttons during the process and I have been using upgrade. Is that the correct way?

All I did was tap the file from Root Explorer, choose "install".

I get a dialog that asks to "install"? Then Replace "OK"?

Then I get the standard Market "install" or "cancel".

Then a choice of "open" or "done".

I went into Settings... applications, found Market, and uninstalled updates. I reopened Market and installed it again to tell you what it said.

Maybe you need to redownload it.

If you don't install it now, it'll get pushed to you in a few days anyway. :D

Are you running stock rom?

Yes running stock ROM. In Astro it goes to the app manager and says Uninstall, Upgrade or Launch. Launch opens the market I have now. Upgrade takes me to the standard market install screen. I hit install and only get Installing....then application not installed. Strange. I can install anything else just fine from the market. I appreciate the help.

I'm pretty sure I read that new market will not run on rooted stock ROM. I'll link you if I come across the thread again.

Is anyone else having problems with apps that don't have a "Download" link on the apps Market page?

I don't know if it's a compatibility thing but it's for apps that I would normally have on the nook.

Running CM7 from EMMC...

Definitely - I have the same issue where some apps don't have a 'download' link to click on. Can't stand the new Market....

Thanks for the feedback guys, as always colchiro is there!

So what's the best mitigation process? Where can I uninstall the market update? I can handle the freeze market updater part with Ti backup.....

REALLY glad to know I wasn't the only one with this problem. Here's another one for you, and this was taking place before I updated the market....Phandroid had a nice writeup on Star Blitz by glu and said it had been out for a week. I couldn't find the app in the market anywhere! Try it and see what you get out of the market....

Thanks guys

EDIT: Sorry guys, super easy, shoulda tried before I asked!

I believe the new market is device aware. So if your device is not listed as 'compatible' with the app there will be no download link.
