It's my understanding the hspa+ will work. I'm just really curious as to which version they're selling because the one that newegg has pictured has the US Power adapter not the European power adapter. Some of the other folks selling this phone have a european adapter with a US converter pictured.

Why is this bad?

Its not bad as almost all the phones that are from samsung ARE made from Korea, however some models/variants are made to target different areas of the world. For example European and Indian versions are both made by samsung in Korea but have different firmware versions and connect to networks different. So basically newegg didn't really answer the question into where the phone's target market is.

From reading other forums, namely redflagdeals, those of us who ordered from Newegg.ca and got a device from the New York warehouse received phones made in Korea but for the Chile market.

I just purchased the GS2 from Newegg this afternoon. I'm on T-Mobile myself, but the phone clearly works on AT&T voice and HPSA+ based on the network specifications displayed by Newegg. I may jump over there after swapping out my SIM and seeing how their HPSA+ does around here.

If you're looking to get the GS2 now, Newegg looks as good as any options. I called the Canadian companies, they won't deliver to the US. Clove is a bit higher priced than Newegg, and I was not sure if there was import fee. Amazon is a small affiliate vendor. Newegg looks like a good option and the price is ok.

Hi, I ordered my SGS2 from Amazon (I ordered the one that says it comes with international warranty) and got the Chile version and so far it has worked great on AT&T. It came with a real US a/c adapter/charger so no need for a power converter.

Does anyone know how I register for the international warranty or if it just takes effect with the purchase? (The manual I got is in Spanish).

I have run speed tests on both the SGS2 and my old Captivate (swapping the sim chip between them and using the same speed test app) both in a local city and at my house way out in the sticks and I've had massively faster speeds with the SGS2. The Captivate seems to have a hard upload speed cap in the 300K range as I've never seen it go above that uploading however the SGS2 regularly gets over 1M upload in both locations. As for download, the Captivate tends to get between 1M and 3M (3M in the city) and the SGS2 tends to get between 2M and 6M (6M in the city). Granted, speed tests can be effected by far to many things to be definitive but the consistent trend in multiple tests in different places seems to be a 2-3 times speed test increase going to the SGS2 (and even at home I'm getting an H+ symbol on the SGS2 although I obviously get better speeds in the city). This does make me wonder if the AT&T version will have the same speed caps as the Captivate?

Beyond speed tests so far this phone has been running great, I'm so relieved to not have to constantly hear my Captivate complain about loosing GPS location when running Google navigation.

The only glitch I've encountered so far was when I tried plugging it into my computer for the first time and the notification bar crashed and I ended up having to to a full data wipe/restore to fix it. I did some research and apparently it is some sort of glitch with the USB debugging setting where if that setting is on and you plug the phone into a PC it corrupts the notification bar? I also suspect that having allowed Market to restore all the programs that had been on my Captivate to this phone might have had an effect on this but cannot be sure. Anyways, after the wipe/restore from settings I was careful to turn off USB debugging and disabled the automatic restore of old applications in Market and haven't had any problems since. I have connected the phone both as an external data drive and connected it to the Keys program fine.

I do wonder if anyone out there can explain to me how to use Keys Air as I'm curious about trying that?

Anyways, I hope that this information helps others looking at getting this phone, so far it is incredibly worth it!

Right! I sighed because they didn't answer my question.

I wanted to know where the original intended market was for the phones they were selling.

Chile...hmm.

For those who ordered from Newegg, did your SGS2 come in a sealed box (ie. was there a sticker from Samsung that said "Do not accept if broken?") It seems like people who ordered from Newegg.ca got no seal on the box and a paper saying that the seal was broken for "unlocking purposes". That seems odd because if it was truly factory unlocked, why would Newegg have to open the box...?

I got mine last week from Newegg.ca......It shipped out of Los Angeles and didn't have a seal, actually no evidence of one ever on the box. The phone and the manual were both in Spanish

........Also the screen/back cover stickers were still in place so i doubt any modification was done too mine

Just for everyones info I ordered from Clove (England) and when I recieved the phone there was a factory seal on it that said do not accept if this seal is broken. Mine is also unlocked and works perfectly on ATT USA. Dosent seem right that the seals are broken on New Egg phones.
These phones are factory unlocked.

Mine gets here Tuesday from Newegg. If the seal is broken it might just end up going back. That would not be cool at all.

So, folks that purchased from Newegg, was your seal broken?
