verizon offered me a compromise

I'd like to know what was so bad it required 7 new phones as well. I know about 2 dozen people with TBolts who are all on their original phone.

To answer your question, if you want 4G then get a new TB. If you don't need 4G I'd get the Inc2. The TBolt is till the best 4G phone VZW has at the moment.

first was bad out of box it lasted 15 days till they finally said hey we will replace it second was bad sim reader third was bad battery terminals and next 4 were dim flickering screens that went out and now this one after the update they are saying that it shouldnt be doing the stuff its doing like when i change my notification tones it doesnt change my text tone no matter what i do i cant change that and well the battery life is down to 3-4 hours even with the charging trick and turning off the 4g and turning down the screen brightness.... i guess the things that bother me the most is the battery life and the fact ill click on someones text to respond back and wham it goes to someone elses text that really pisses me off cause ppl have gotten texts that WERE NOT meant for them lmfaooo i love the 4g but the phone being on the charger more than its off is a crock of shit especially since all im doing is texting

All of your current issues can easily be fixed with rooting. I get amazing battery life with 4g ON.

Sounds like you have some bad luck. If you want to get another TB I would tell VZW you'll try another one with the guarantee that if this one is still not performing to your expectations then you want to try something else. Hopefully for your sake you could drag it along until the Bionic or SGSII comes out

Still have mine from start of May, only minor quibbles, and one of them is fixed:

1. Was told Netflix was available for it when I got it=well it is now, so no problem.

2. Inconsistent volume between some apps/speaker/even headphones, some are loud enough, some arent

3. Battery life sucks down, but I've so far always been able to charge it, will rectify eventually with extended battery or keep a portable charger.

Other than that, I love this damn thing.

i dont wanna root because of all the hardware problems ive had once you root and you send it in to them for replacement you get told hey your screwed and trust me it just happened to my buddy

Unless your buddies phone wouldnt turn on, theres no reason ever to bring a rooted phone into VZW for servicing. Theres a simple and easy unrooting process that you can do BEFORE you bring it in. Ive done it twice due to hardware issues and got a new phone.

Hi,
I am curious when you unroot is there any evidence that it was rooted?
Do you have a link to the process you used to unroot?

Thanks,
Bryan

Yeah if your buddy sent in a rooted phone for repair or replacement, that was his mistake. As has been said, unrooting is easy and not traceable.

Main reason I rooted my phone was to get rid of HTC sense  and run the android I prefer to run. If you like the sense ui the stock phone is fast and capable,no reason you can't enjoy it out of the box. I personally enjoy rooting/rommng way to much to ever NOT root a phone ;) before I ever got my TB I knew I'd only be running it stock until the root exploits were released.

Sorry you've had such bad luck. I'm still on my original phone as well.

he couldnt even turn on his phone thats why he had to send it in and got stuck buying a whole new phone... wasnt all to happy about it and couldnt blame him, and with the screen problems ive had i couldnt even open the phone as a external drive to do anything and what happens then i send it in and have the same problem.... ive had more problems with the replacement phones than i actually had with the original one.... getting sick and tired of the problems if i could have someone walk me through all the rooting etc i might try it if i knew i wasnt going to have to get the phone replaced again and wind up getting screwed without a phone... ive read quite a bit about rooting but everybody is just like oh this kernel this rom etc.... well its all jibberish to me haha and one of the biggest problems is during texting sending texts to someone who i wasnt even texting... i open a text reply to it and it winds up sending it to someone else... how does rooting take care of that? since if im correct rooting is just versions of the same software with certain things removed isnt it?

wait... what??

if his phone wouldnt power on then how did they know it was rooted? did he tell them? there is defiantely no way that they can tell from a device that wont power on that it has been tinkered with. there is got to be more to this than he is telling you.

nope i was with him when he took it into the verizon store he didnt say anything they swapped him out to a new phone, a week later he got a phone call saying he had to return the device because he violated his contract by illegally altering the device software if not he was going to be charged the full price of the phone so he had to return the phone and went back to his original droid
