[OFFICIAL]MHL - Looks like microUSB - all HDMI info here

$11? Nice! They soaked me for $20 plus tax. Still better than the $40 Sprint wants though.

Yup :) I did the call around like you, but there was a coupon noted in an XDA thread that I found this morning. Talk about timing! Went in, showed the coupon and walked out with an adapter for 1/4 the price of the Sprint version.

I have pasted the link below.

Now, I am thoroughly enjoying a new dimension to my phone. Yes, bad pun intended hehe

Do you have power to the adapter?
Yup I hooked it up too.

Edit: I called up HTC and they have no idea, they suggested doing a factory reset of the phone. I'm going to contact T-Mobile and get a replacement cable first before I try a factory reset. I think it is just a defective cable since my phone doesn't show as charging when everything is hooked into the MHL cable into my phone. Pain in the ass though, I drove 2 towns over just to pick this thing up.

Please see above first - another member was having a similar issue with his Samsung DLP 3D TV, and discuss charging with others who have that adapter.

May I ask what year your set was made?

Current theory is that this relates to ID handshaking, although we've not heard back to confirm that for the Samsung case.
I think mine is a 2009 set, it's a 73" DLP 1080p, 120hz, 3D display. I have the 3D adapter box as well.

Ya I am still trying to locate my HDMI switch box. I had one but I stopped using it as the box didnt work well, and now cant seem to locate it. I think I will order one from amazon as I can get it for about 15 bucks. I will let you know if that solves the issue, as one member said that might help with the handshake.

I called T-Mobile, and they said, since I'm not an existing customer, they can't send me a replacement cable and I have to drive BACK to the original store I bought it from 2 towns over. Thanks a lot T-Mobile, not particularly regretting leaving them right about now.
You might want to try it on another tv before you drive back to T-Mobile. Make sure it's not a handshake issue or your tv or something else.

Take it to walmart and plug it into a tv there.

Ok, I don't know what the hell is going on now. I tested the original cable at Best Buy before taking it back. It didn't work at BB, so I got a replacement, I bring the replacement home and that one doesn't work either. Now did I just get 2 defective cables in a row or is it my phone now? Is there something special I should be doing with the cable or is it just plug and play?

For the most part, it's plug and play.

On mine, I just connect it (and the power, charging light comes on). Every once in a while I'll have to unplug it and replug it though. I thin kit has something to so with what screen your phone is on when you plug it in or something.

But at the most, I just unplug it and replug it. I almost never have to do that, and when I do it works after plugging it back in.

Is the charging cable REQUIRED or is there any way that it wouldn't work without that plugged in? Cause the second cable I got, I just plugged it in without the charger to test. I could try with the charger too, but I didn't imagine that it made any difference.

can you explain to the class what steps you took to remedy. and do you think now in hindsight that it was not the fault of the first adapter but of not doing the steps you did this time around?
Well I tested multiple TVs and cables with the first adapter, as well as trying it with and without the charger hooked into it. So I didn't do anything wrong there, but the second one I tried it first without the charger, and then with it and it worked.

Thanks! I picked up the last one they had today and it works like a charm when displaying pictures and movies. Playing games doesn't work that great though, as the slightest movement from the cable seems to disconnect it.

One thing I thought of that might help save battery life while using the MHL/HDMI cable while playing movies or music is to turn the screen brightness completely off, if others haven't already been doing that.

Now I need a bigger SD card...32gb isn't enough! ;)

Thanks for the info. Worked well for me. Noticed a couple of things:
1. You have to use a AC chager to charge it and make it work.
2. Connection can get loose easily so if you loose signal unplug the micro USB and plug back in. Sometimes if phone goes into power saver mode, you will loose connection as well. Do the same trick.
