Official Bionic Release Date Thread

No doubt. Talk about pokin' the bear. LOL!

I think the sad part is quite a few people are thinking the same thing...

I was playing with a friends iPhone and I must admit I do like the no lag crap.

I don't think I will ever GO to the iPhone due to my hatred of Apple and their practices, but still it is tempting to have a piece of equipment that works perfectly fine without any problems.

All I will say about the iPhone is the "just works" thing isnt entirely true. Its just like any other smartphone when it comes to having issues.

I, for one, don't like the iPhone because of having to do everything though iTunes, no removable battery, and I just don't see the advantage of iOS over anything else. Having said that, my wife has the iPhone 4 and LOVES it. I don't like the smaller 3.5'' screen, but she doesn't care. She just wants something that works.

And, truth be told, it has never force closed or randomly rebooted, and the battery life is excellent.

I think the iPhone is probably the most reliable phone I've ever seen. Is it the most fun or good looking? Not even close. But it is definitely reliable.

Definitely more reliable than my D1 which is now just a pile of rubble. I have to say though that I rarely had it reboot on me since November of 2009. Forced closes yes, but those were mostly with custom roms. From a stock experience (from what I can remember, it has been so long) I don't believe I hardly ever had a FC.

I too will not go to Apple only because of their practices. I don't like anyone telling me what I can run on my devices and I certainly don't like their monopolistic grip on devs. Its Apple's way or the highway for something I purchased. No thanks...

Exactly. Although for what it's worth, I jailbroke my wife's iPhone so she could tether her iPad 2 to it. I don't even know if there are any roms for iPhones, I didn't research it. I just did it for the tethering thing, and it works like a charm. So there is a way around Apple's iron grip.

Still, not enough to sway me towards Apple. Android is much more fun to work with and tweak.

Just FYI.

No one commenting on him wanting an iPhone and no attacks on him shows the maturity level in here at the moment...

Good job folks.

Agreed!

Wish Android had the same battery life as the iPhone, but I realize they are different beasts. Retina display is nice too. Can't stand iTunes.

Sorry I took thread away from Bionic talk.

I just want a LTE phone that is solid. I would have bought the charge already but it doesn't have a message notification light (that was just a silly oversight)
The Thunderbolt has tons of problems and complaints.
That leaves the Revolution, which well I don't why I haven't just bought one.

Seriously if the iPhone5 has LTE, and the Bionic is pushed back, its going to kill the Bionic.

I agree. But I saw a commercial for the Revolution last night on TV and went on the threads here, and it's getting trashed. Also read a review of it (cnet, I think), and it's really subpar.

Also, the Thunderbolt has a super crappy battery. Even the Verizon store employee told me that, and told me not to bother with it. This comes from someone working on commission!

I highly, highly doubt that iPhone 5 has LTE. BUT, if it does, (and if the SGSII doesn't come in August or September) and if the screen is at least the 4" it's rumored to be, I think I might just pull the trigger on that one. Yes, I HATE itunes, but I'd do it anyway and jailbreak the stuffing out of it.

As sad as it may be, I might just agree with this post.

If the Bionic does not just completely blow my skirt up, it's out. As much as I might want or use 4G, I can wait for it.

I would GLADLY snatch up an SGSII if it is released soon (They keep saying August, please god let it be true).

So help me though, if the iPhone 5 has LTE and the 4" screensize I might cry as I do it, but it might just have to be done.

Is it confirmed that the Bionic will be thicker? I know D3 is 0.5" and I saw the faked Droid Does leak showing Bionic at 0.52", but is the 0.52" actually confirmed? As far as I know, the fake Droid Does leak was the only thing showing that, but maybe I missed something official?

I'm really hoping the Bionic will be < 0.5" thick...

Seems that to accommodate the lte radio, it could be correct.

I'll just leave this here.

Not saying it's real, not saying it's fake. Here's to hoping.

This comes from the same source, it seems, as another leak. Very similar design.

I can't take anymore of this emotional rollercoaster!!! It's actually quite impressive how many times I've flip flopped my "sure pick" on my next phone. There has been talk about the Function dropping in August and the Bionic being delayed intil September! Now this! Which is it!

I'm going to wait it out. The new Nexus on Verizon LTE is looking pretty sweet.

That's hard to say considering my enV Touch's touch no longer works. It's now a glorified enV.

This makes some sense... The 29th would be AFTER the 2weeks return policy for anyone who got the Droid 3. Is that not correct?

Yes and no. It would be for those who ordered online on the 7th, but those who got it later could still return it. The release date, as per this, is 8/4. Subtract 2 weeks and add back a day to be conservative.

On a side note, I recommend editing your post and removing the quote, it lengthens the page a ton. ;)

And I'm starting to doubt that it's a legit doc.

They used the wrong form of "it's", and other websites are pointing out multiple spelling errors.

Best Buy Expecting DROID Bionic Cases to Arrive by August 20? - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

This article claims best buy is getting the case for the bionic on august 20. When is the last time a case wasn't available til almost 3 weeks after release? September is still a possibility. Either way, I don't think I could care much less. Sad, really.
