GRJ90 Update info 7/25/11

Holy crap... this phone has pinch zoom now! Am I wrong or is this a new feature added by the RGJ90 update??? I remember trying it weeks ago and it did not work. Now it does!

I believe it was there before the update, though that may have been a product of running cm7

must be because I just tried it on stock and it does not zoom at all...

My experience with mine both pre and post update has been very good. Very happy with mine.

That's good to hear. I've had good experience with this device since I took it out the box when it came out. At one point the SMS issue was annoying, but that was a network problem Sprint was having. That was fixed weeks ago. The other issues people are claiming to have I have not experienced. This 2.3.5 update just made everything better on top of my already good experience. My signal has improved in areas I usually have a somewhat weak or weaker signal. I get full 4G bars when I would just get two. Battery has always been good. I'm a moderate user and I always have it on the charger when I'm at home. When I'm out I barely use it. Just text and maybe a few phone calls. Come home with 30 to 50 percent left. I'm sure some are really having issues and some are making it seem more then what it is, or have unrealistic views. All that is just when I'm on stock. When I root it I nearly double all of that. So I love my phone. Can't wait until the Nexus 3

I am having a good experience with my N4G. Got my update this morning.

I really don't see what the big deal is about the update. Do people actually get pissed off because an update is late or because Sprint/Google isn't releasing details on the update status?

I would get pissed over something much more life threatening like if someone broke into my house (and then they would have big bloody holes in them). Life it to short to get my balls in an uproar over a phone update.

I just grabbed the update from Google, installed it with no problems, super easy on a non-rooted NS4G. Have to say, don't notice much difference. Although I haven't been out of range of my wifi at home, so I can't yet tell if the signal strength has improved. Hopefully it's fixed, it's awful reception wherever I go.

Also disappointed about the loss of tethering, I've used it quite a few times and it has been really useful. :(

are you referring to pinch-to-zoom in the browser? or in the gallery (like previewing photos by pinching and then expanding your fingers)? either way, those have been in since I first had the phone (came with 2.3.3 and updated to 2.3.4)

Ok back on topic now. I got the update then my phone rebooted and came up with the triangle and little green android guy and looked like it was bricked. A Batt pull fixed that but I just booted my phone up and the update did not stick. I'm rooted with CWM7. Time to unroot and apply the update myself.

An OTA update cannot be applied to a rooted phone running a non- stock rom

Once rooted one should turn off OTA updates.

Stock ROM just rooted. And I'm going to wait to un-root my phone and apply the update. I have a new HTC EVO View Tablet coming today and want to try out the wireless tether for rooted users on the tablet before I update my phone. But I do plan on re-rooting my phone after update.
