Help second evo, screen still lopsided

So I was under the 30 replacement and I just got my new EVO. I'm sending in the first one cause the screen was a little lopsided. When I powered on this one I noticed it as well. The top part is leaning more to the right and the bottom is more to the left. So i have these black bars goin down the sides. I thought I was crazy when i asked Sprint support and they said they never heard of this. I havent been to a store yet but I doubt there's anything they cab do. Anyone have this?

I had it also. I noticed on mine that the actual screen seemed to fall away from the overlying glass in the lower right corner, which gives an additional illusion of tilt. To see if that is happening you really have to look at the phone on level as much as possible. It didn't really seem to cause a problem, but I also had two stuck pixels, so I exchanged it. The sprint salesman (nice guy) looked at me like I had two heads, but he exchanged it anyway. Seems to be somewhat common with hardware version 2.

I have the same issue with my phone. Screen is tilted to the right (1-2 pixels), so the right edge of the screen is cut off. I got a replacement, and same issue. I heard only 20-30% of the launch model have perfect screens. I am very disappointed in HTC. I am going to return the 3VO and wait for Samsung Galaxy II which is rumour to be out next month.

Theres a big thread of this issue on XDA:

Tilted Screen?? - xda-developers

Ugh. I just noticed this on mine too. It really is not that bad though. I am going to guess that a replacement is going to have this issue or some OTHER issue that makes it not perfect too.

Virtually everything else on my mine is good. The GPS, the compass, the signal strength, the download speed, the speakers, and anything else I can think of. The worst thing to have happen would be for me to get it exchanged and then have this same issue or have another one rear its ugly head. So, I am probably just going to stick with this one and deal with it as it is not that noticeable unless you really look.

I read through that entire xda-developers thread and it seems to be fairly prevalent, even with people returning their handsets and getting another that still exhibits the tilt. But, once again, if I had not read this thread, I bet I would have never noticed it because it is that slight of a tilt. Also, remember that threads with issues like these tend to inflate the problem because mostly people who have it chime in and not those who do not. It is not bothering me that much, so I am sticking with my current handset.

I also want to assure people that this does NOT affect the viewing of 3D pictures and videos at all. I tested this on numerous different objects in my house and everything showed up perfectly.

Ok I think I know what everyone is talking about now. the display (the part that lights up) is slightly masked by the black frame. By black frame, I mean the part that has the HTC logo, Sprint logo, and the 4 fixed buttons. The orientation of the screen relative to that black frame is not straight.

So I had to look really closely to see that my screen's alignment is not quite perfect. But the good news is that all of the screen is visible... So I guess mine is not as bad?

Just checked my Evo 4G. It's very slightly off as well, but the entire screen is visible. By slightly off, I'm talking about the width of 1 pixel. So I'm not complaining.

Exactly. The only problem is that once you see it, unseeing it is tough. :D

Eh, I have seen worse examples of the issue in the xda-developers than what my screen's misalignment is. I count myself as lucky that the tilt on mine is so slight.

This thread needs *spoiler* tags so more people don't fall into the trap :D
I had hoped this issue wouldn't bleed over to this forum.

How can we politely, en masse, let HTC know that we think they should do better quality control on their consumer devices? I'm picturing a double fronted tactic where we get Sprint to address HTC for their build quality for us, as well as HTC hears it from each and every individual consumer too. How can we make this a reality? It appears that playing handset trading games with the middle man, Sprint, is not getting the message through the hedge. It also leaves a bad taste in the mouth of the consumer who feels like they need to trade multiple handsets for a "good one", not to mention the retail companies who have to deal with the entire hub-bub. It just seems like such a big waste all the way around. Yet all we can do is bite the bullet?

I appreciate that HTC can put out handsets like crazy, but how can the quick and dirty production strategy provide long time satisfaction for all parties involved? I believe that we should politely let them know somehow.

SMS is simple, ubiquitous, and has infected nearly the entire populous. If only there was a way for every HTC consumer to send a very simple and civil feedback SMS text message from their phone that could actually reach HTC AND the service provider and still be heard by the correct channel of peoples that make the decisions.

A guy can dream right...?

I honestly don't see it. I either have crooked eyes so I have the issue and don't know it or my phone doesn't have it. Or maybe I can't see it because I'm left handed and we are accustomed to adjusting to things anyway... ;) Since so far I've been very lucky with this phone I think I'll play the lottery. Hey, if I got the only good EVO 3D in Tennessee then my odds of hitting the numbers look pretty good right now :D. Unless my window of opportunity has closed...

I would really like to see a pic of a tilted screen. To compare. A lot of folks are saying off by 1 or 2 pixels. I doubt if I could tell.

There are a few example pictures in the xda-developers thread mentioned in a post above. They seem to be severe examples of this issue though, so I would not worry too much about it. :)

I think there are varying degrees of the problem, and most only have a very slightly tilted screen which is why it goes unnoticed until it is pointed out. For that reason, and the fact that a replacement will likely have the issue too, I am sticking with my handset as everything else is great. ;)

http://androidforums.com/member.php?u=599840The moral of the story is if it looks ok and you haven't noticed, DON'T GO LOOKING, because it is probably there. Some of us had noticable ones. If you don't look, you can't find.

when I swapped mine because of the radio, the one they gave me had a screen that was offset to the left quite a bit, leaving a black gap down the rightside. I swapped again while in store and that one was perfect. For the amount of money we pay for devices and ever rising service costs, i say switch it. Its not your fault that htc has bad quality control. You worked for that money, and for that, you should get a good product when you spend it.
