No. You'll have to deodex after installing it.

someone care to dumb down the process for me, i understand that since i have the ota already I'll have to sbf (whatever that means) back to the previous version ala http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...ootable-linux-cd-soley-sbf-headache-free.html

but this 2 process and boot strapper is giving me a headache trying to wrap my head arround, if someone could spell out how to do this then in a simple step by step process. so that I can follow it, being the total noob, and not wanting to do this more than once. preferably in the free sense would be great, I realize that the d2 boot strapper is paid app, but the only reason I want to root my phone is get rid of all the bloat that is factory. other than that I'd like to keep it stock. i read in here that someone used the DX free version, any expansion on that would be great! - not that I have any idea what I'm talking about...

any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: found a little help http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/348532-just-rooted-what-next.html from cougar214 although "select" took me forever to figure out the camera red button was select!

Hey guys...I am currently on the .595 and want to goto the .596 because I am hoping it might be a tad bit more stable (getting a lot of restarts lately on .595). I am obviously rooted. How would I go about upgrading to the .596 without losing my settings, reinstalling...yadda, yadda, yadda.

Let's see if I'm understanding this correctly. I had sbf'ed to 2.3.34 then used rsd lite to flash the one part OEM gingerbread, but that version is not rootable as of yet. So if I want root, I need to sbf back to 2.3.4 stock, root the phone with z4root, then apply with rsd lite the 2 part file and I can use Droid 2 bootstrap unless I turn off USB debugging then I can use Droid x bootstrap. Is this correct?

Okay so my charger (usb) port got fried and I got a replacement phone that came with .596 stock what path do I have to take to root it? Lol hoping I don't have to do to much but I have experience with sbf and all that and it sounds like I would need to go backwards then install the rooted 2 part download but if that is the case is there a way I can backup all my settings and everything that I have setup on here already?

The SBF to 340 and then install the 2-part update is the correct path. As for backing up...I don't think there is a way, but maybe some of the gurus can chime in on that one.

must be nice after mine came up the root was gone, I had a rooted 340 when I started the 2 part method I had no idea I was going to loose root using the 2 part method :mad:

You should not have lost root. I've done the 2 part method many times and have always had root after complete.

So I tried to SBF back to the 340 leak and the transfer said it completed in RSD lite (4.8). Then, it kept bootlooping. Tried to get back into clockwork but whenever I do, it just shows a screen that displays this:

Bootloader
30.04

Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:
USB

So what do I do now? I have to try installing the file again? I tried it twice, the first time it didn't work, the second, it did, but it doesn't boot up.

And a question for future reference, why can't I just put the downloaded SBF file on the sd card, then install it from ROM manager? Do I NEED to use RSD lite in order to SBF? It seems like the same process as flashing roms, which would be a lot easier. Anyway thanks and please help as I have no phone

TRY this. Pull battey, then reinstall. When you power up hold the home button and power buton at the same time. When the triangle appears push the search button. Now select wipe factory reset.

Hello, neww to the forums. Can anyone tell me how to get my root back on my dx? I was having so many issues with this phone and ended up calling tech @ vzw and they walked me through a process which i didnt realize was the new updat push....and now i lost my root and dont. See too much a difference, except that now my texts text alone...even when im not. Now i get alot sticking apps, that i have to end up with the forceclose error mess. I hate this. I liked my froyo, but if i can mayb get my root back...i probably will keep, if not im gooing to need a replacement from vzw asap correct? Im sorry i really dont know alot about sbf and ect. But i rooted my dx with z4root. I loved it because i was able to use my phone as a hotspot when needed, for all my computers,tabs,and laptop, now no superuser access,no more open apps, no nothing just an oleeeee sticking droid x with 2.3.3, 4.5.1_57, 4.5.602...ect..plzzzzzzz help me...

You have to SBF. No other way to get root on GB.

Unstuck. I don't see the need for this anymore, as we're on .602 nowadays.
