Are you Dumber?

Primarily a Chrome and Opera user here, but will use FF and IE in a pinch.

I think the pertinent reasons are:

  • IE is the default browser of 95% of people who don't know how to download and install a new browser, which drags down the average. (Mac users in this boat stick with Safari.)
  • People who use other browsers include a disproportionate number of computer geeks, which brings their averages up.

I recall a rather large study by the Massachusetts Institute of Busines Publications on the Web that did an extensive survey and concluded that anyone who reads businessinsider.com is too dumb to locate the Wall Street Journal.

I use IE and I have no problem with it. And trust me, I not dummy.

I use Firefox. IE just had way too many problems and I gave it up and never looked back.

"IE is the default browser of 95% of people who don't know how to download and install a new browser, which drags down the average. (Mac users in this boat stick with Safari.)"

That quote pretty much nails it on the head IMO. If you asked the "dumb" people what internet browser they use they wouldn't even know what you're talking about. I wouldn't expect them to know how to look for an alternative let alone be able to download and install it either.

I used it until 6 and 7. After 7 the bookmarks settings were changed and I had to always search for my last bookmark folder used when saving bookmarks..

Back in the day I preferred Netscape when it was around tho.

Switched to Firefox. So far its ok, but has its issues too. Opera is cool. I might switch to that if lil issues can be worked out soon.

I use IE almost daily... at work. No choice in the matter. I must be stupid. :p

On my own time it's firefox or chrome. I enjoy both fairly equally but lean towards chrome a little more I think.

That must suck, I'm glad I get to use Firefox or Chrome at work. But that's only because IE seems to cause a ton of problems with my companies website.

When I'm at home I definitely prefer Chrome, but I will always love Opera it was my favorite browser for the longest time before Chrome was released.

It's pretty surprising IE is still so widely used.

Used to use Firefox, switched to Chrome. Hate IE.

Haha I love that rendition. I'm a web developer by night (sleeper inner by day) and every time I have to deal with one of its infamous proprietary screwups I can relax knowing it's not Microsofts fault. IE eats glue.

I used to be a religious (not zealous, just religious) FireFox user. I've got five browsers installed on average, again due to my job, but FF was the dd. Then it angered me. And then it angered me again. And again, and then it jumped from v3 to v5 with absolutely nothing to back it up but some minor UI tweaks and I dumped it for Chrome. Light, fast, and stays the heck out of my way (I'm on the web, I don't want to see the app).
