I had mine for two days and put in in a glass of water to show off the mil spec advertised water resistant feature to some co-workers. Now phone is not working and Verizon says that it is not covered under the 14 day return. The Casio warranty states that water damage is not covered and their warranty service provider is saying it is not covered. The ads show this thing being used in a shower. Nothing in the ad says that getting it wet and it failing would void the warranty. They don't even use the standard disclaimer of saying don't try this at home!

This is flat out false advertising. When you run ads showing it being used in extreme conditions you need to step up to the plate and accept returns when people do so and the product fails. Where would Timex had been if they had taken such a stance?

Casio are you listening? Quit hiding behind your warranty service provider! You need to contact me or this is going to get ugly fast, you have an ad campaign that is starting this weekend and I will be posting many comments stating that you do not stand behind this product. This is your opportunity to turn around a negative into a positive. I like the phone and I suspect the speaker seal failed as we saw bubbles coming out of the speaker.

Taking a shower with a phone and immersing it in water are two entirely different things.

The manual states:
The CASIO G’zOne Commando™ is water resistant. It provides reliable performance for outdoor activities, and in wet conditions such as driving rain or high humidity

Water resistant does not mean it will survive being dropped into a glass of water.

Sorry about your phone, but that was a pretty silly thing to do.

Then they should not show ads of it being used in a shower. FALSE AND MISLEADING ADVERTISING! I was told that the Casio rep actually came into the Verizon store and did that as part of his demonstration, dropped in a bucket of water. It is also advertised as meeting the mil spec of total immersion in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes; you know as: IN WRITING they state this. Then why is it not a manufacturing defect when it can't even handle a glass of water for 10 seconds.

If you are going to run ads that brag about how tough your product is then you should take it on the chin when things get returned or tell your rep's not to do things like dropping it in water as part of their demonstration to the sales people at Verizon. It is misleading to them as well.

too bad for you, my phone works fine, yours is busted cause you treated it like crap.

Good luck, tell them how you broke it. Just go to the store and say, "Excuse me, this phone doesn't work, give me a new one, thanks".

-Mike

I did just try and return it and when they saw the pink on the battery just automatically said, water damage, not covered. What dog do you have in this fight anyway? It's advertised, demonstrated and sold as a tough phone.

I'm not the one who bought something based solely on what they saw in an advertisement, then intentionally abused the device (violating the warranty in the process) thus breaking it, then had the audacity to go crying to store when it broke. Then when they point out the warranty you agreed to (then broke), you go complain on the Internet.

You're right, your phone wasn't waterproof contrary to the advertising claims. Had you not intentionally broken it, I would pity you. But alas, poor soul, you failed to read the manual, you failed to read and/or abide by the warranty, and now you have a broken phone.

Welcome to life, where things aren't always like they advertise.

You do realize that we do not live in China do you not? There are consumer protection laws being violated, it is illegal to run ads with false and misleading claims. I also have the right to inform other people of their misrepresentations and pursuade them not to buy a product from then. What a great country this where we do not have to put up with people trying to shove lies down our throats and telling us to just take it.

My goal is to complain loud during their new ad campaign that started today in order to pursuad people not to fall for their tricks. If they lose just one sale from people reading this I will have won. Oh and thanks for keeping this thread on top! Just what Casio and Verizon do not want to see when they just started a marketing blitz.

... and thread closed.

This really is an issue between you and Verizon. Sorry to hear that your phone is dead but complaining about it here and fighting with other users who have different views isn't going to help your situation.

Might I remind everyone, discuss and debate ISSUES. No need to sling mud or name call....
