Radio Shack memo says LG Thrill delayed until Aug. 21
By Jerry Hildenbrand 29 Jul 2011 5:20 pm

This is from android central

This just rolled in from a tipster, and it looks like you folks waiting for AT&T to release the LG Thrill 4G might have to wait just a bit longer. According to this internal memo from Radio Shack, the thrill has been put on hold until Aug. 21. The Shack will continue to take pre-orders for the dual-core 3D handset until Aug. 15, and those of you that already have yours on order should be getting word from Radio Shack about the delay soon.

No clue as to why it's being delayed -- and maybe this is just for Radio Shack and AT&T proper will release it sooner. Or, maybe they decided to throw one more party (actually, Gameloft has one scheduled for Aug. 10). If you have any better theories, check out the hands-on and talk it up in the Thrill 4G forums!

Hey, here's some potentially good news for any impatient and financially comfortable Thrill seekers (ha! no pun intended, that just happened. Thrill seekers! Get it? OK maybe it's not that funny.)

LG Optimus 3D P920 Smartphone Unlocked Import at MobileCityOnline.com

Buying phones from import sites isn't news or anything, but I came across this and thought I might as well share because 1. it comes unlocked, which is super convenient, 2. it supports 2G bands for at&t and t-mo, and a 3G band (SINGULAR!) for AT&T - and maybe t-mo too but I don't know what their 3G frequencies are - and 3. even though the price is about $100 more than what you're going to pay off contract in the US, it's still much cheaper than usual for an unlocked import of a brand new phone.

I cannot recommend the website, because I have never used them. If anyone imported or plans to import, let us know how it went!

This doesn't make much sense from a marketing standpoint. AT&T & Samsung had a big event with the concert and they're releasing the 3D video on August 4th. If they don't have a phone to watch it on, do you think that's going to go over very well? I doubt they're releasing it for Epic 3D owners. :)

I'm guessing, maybe hoping, it's just a Radio Shack thing.

Been watching paint dry so long that I see it starting to peel. This is getting boring. Not even one update this week. :(

Well we have just a little over a week before release date. I've already ordered two extra batteries plus a stand alone charger. I'm not getting any case or skins(like my phone naked) but might get a car holder for GPS purposes. Even if its delayed again I rather have this phone then the SG2. So ill be waiting for the release.

I used to work for 2 different cell phone companies not to long ago and from my experience with smart phones is that when they delay them like this its not to update them to the newest firmware but somebody in corporate messed up and they didn't have the units ready to ship. My issue with LG is that they've already sent units to AT&T Stores, gave units in AT&T packaging to reviewers and have had all these events about the phone (even giving the unit out for free to locals) and yet still no official release date. They spent all this money and still haven't sold one phone yet lol.

if i can find that link again it states at&t is holding it up because they are planning to rename it from LG Thrill 4G to LG Thrill 3D.
