New Camera App is TERRIBLE!!!!

After upgrading to 2.3, the new camera app is my ONLY complaint. It takes dark and poor pictures at night. Anyone have any tips to enable functionality of the old camera or an app that lets me take quick, easy photos with the same settings as the old app? The 1,2,3 exposure of the new camera app isn't enough.

There is work underway at xda-developers.com to port the Froyo camera to Gingerbread. It's mostly working, but there are still a couple of glitches that haven't been fixed yet. In order to use it, you'll need to be running the Clockwork recovery and install a .zip file (i.e., it's not as easy as installing a Market application).

There are rumors of another update coming in 3-6 weeks, that this release of Gingerbread was an interim snapshot intended to placate folks who were up in arms about the problems with Froyo. If that's true, I would be surprised if that version still has the camera that is in V21e.

A couple of market (paid) applications that people have mentioned in connection with getting back the missing camera functionality are Vignette and Camera Zoom FX. I haven't used either of them, but the descriptions in the Market sound pretty good.
