I stopped reading there.

I stopped reading here... :p JK....My bad on the long novel, I just got back from the gym and tried going through the root process on this new phone hence my rambling I guess....

At least read the 2nd paragraph if you have ever had a refurb. I think HTC or Verizon is using a cheaper plastic housing on the refurbs because I swear my current phone is more metallic looking than the refurbs they've been sending.

I will luckily NEVER know anything about refurbs. My insurance company sends me either mine back fixed or a brand new one. MDPA ftw with damage. Ive heard theyre bad though when it comes to stolen/lost phones. I actually did read it all, but I was more so being a smartass. I got irritated for you. lol.

I had the same problem. Sent me a replacement that look liked it was slobbered over. Went into the store and when they started stonewalling me I made a scene and started talking loudly..the manager came over and ushered me to the back of the store where he tried to become my friend and replaced it again! Don't take their crap. Verizon Wireless is one of the few companies that is making a friggin fortune right now. Cell phone companies have everyone addicted to their devices. Ridiculous.

I stopped reading there. Take that crap back. That type of thing is irresponsible. A sticker missing? Id be fine with that as long as it didnt screw my warranty, but a defect like that? Hell no. Thats unacceptable.

The sticker I was talking about is the water damage indicator. Would you accept a replacement that was missing the "void" sticker? Needless to say Verizon said to send them back that refurb asap.

You missed my point on it, but it is what it is.:)

You two both have a valid point. A sticker missing typically means that the tech had to get into the phone and didn't replace the sticker with another sticker. Having said that, I've seen some people get their warranty denied at Apple because they bought a refurb from AT&T that had the sticker missing.

If I get a phone that is as flawless as mine but has a sticker missing, then I'll definitely go for it (especially considering the garbage they're trying to push on me now). I will however call Customer Service and let them know that I want my account to note that the refurb I finally settled on didn't have a water indicator sticker (or other void sticker) on it so if I need to get warranty work for it in the future, I'll have no problem.

Update: I called Verizon today to tell them that the 2nd refurb has a screen that's not fit correctly. I told the tech support rep that the 1st refurb was left with the Fed-Ex guy yesterday when he dropped off the 2nd refurb. So she tells me that my account has been charged $500 because I didn't return the 1st refurb in a timely manner. I advised her that the Verizon rep on Thursday told me that I could give the 1st refurb to the Fed-Ex guy when he brings my 2nd refurb, but since they gave Fed-Ex the wrong address, he didn't get here until yesterday. So I told her what took place and she told me that it will take 4 weeks to get a new refurb.

I went ahead and drove to my local Verizon store and was greeted by a very attractive young lady and asked to speak to the manager. Explained everything to him, and he went ahead and ordered me a 3rd refurb. I should get it in tomorrow. Hopefully the 3rd time is the charm.

Cliff notes for those that hate reading COUGHmclabiaCOUGH: :p

Called Verizon, they claim they're charging me $500 because I didn't return a refurb, claims it'll be 4 weeks before they can send me a 3rd, went to local Verizon store, greeted by a little tenderoni-McHottie, manager sending me 3rd refurb.

3rd refurb, and glass still isn't seated correctly. You can run your finger around the edge and feel where the glass starts to stick out. When I run my finger around the edge of my old problematic one, it feels even all the way around. I'm not being too anal am I? (Yes I know I used the word anal, but at least I didn't say anything about "fingering the rim".....)

LOL Jesus man, I guess what they say about TX is true eh? lol. Take that back. So much dust can get under there and jack your screen up. Take it back and get that managers number imo. GO!

I got a refurb 3 weeks ago after my first CPO phone had the same problem that you have - glass fitment along the bottom edge. The refurb has the same problem. On top of that, the paint is completely rubbing off all along the edges of the case right next to the glass. It primarily stays in my pocket and on my nightstand. Not at all impressed with HTC quality. My wife's Droid X (which used to be mine) is seven months old and looks brand new.

On my 4th refurb now, and it's going back as well. The glass sticks out past the trim piece around the phone.

I took my 3rd refurb to a Verizon store and the sales staff acted as if I was making a big deal out of nothing. I checked both of their floor models and NEITHER have the glass sticking out past the trim (neither does mine for that matter). So I guess I'm going to play this little game with them for awhile. I'm not sure why they think the glass not being seated correctly is acceptable. I mean if you use the speaker phone function then you're going to lay the phone on its face. That trim piece is all there is to protect the screen from any scratches.

Welcome back Goat! lol. Dude, thats MAD shady. VZW and Assurion really know how to get the most out of their buck. When my mom was having issues with her D2, I swore they kept sending her the same two phones. Next time you call in, make them take you to a supervisor, and be nice, but firm and tell them that youre going to keep sending them in and that they need to double check it BEFORE they send it to you. Granted, they wont, but atleast your frustrations will be noted on your account, and hopefully they hook you up for all the bullshit they put you through.

lol, I spoke with a supervisor last Thursday and this current refurb is what I got. She started telling me that she can't send a new phone and I explained to her that I don't want a new phone, I just want a refurb that's put together correctly. It's sad actually. They don't understand that the refurbs aren't being put together correctly, and assume I'm just wanting a new phone. Although I started thinking about it, this phone I have now is only 4 months old, and all the headaches I've had, maybe at this point I need to put my foot down and ask for a new phone....?!?!

They wont send you a new phone. My mom went through 6 D2's, my sister went through 4 of them till I told them that I was going to send it to Motorola and needed them to send me a replacement while this happened. They didnt like that and sent my mom and sister refurbed DX's. They havent had an issue since. lol. Tell them youre going to just send it to HTC and have them fix it, and tell them that you need them to send you a loaner while it happens.

That's actually what they told me, that I can send it to HTC but that HTC doesn't send out phones first. I spoke with someone at HTC last week but didn't get anywhere there either. The girl I spoke with transferred me to a department that was closed for the evening, go figure. I should just continue to cycle through refurbs until I get one that's actually put together correctly. I know Verizon probably has a discounted price for shipping from Fed-Ex, but I would imagine after a few hundred transactions, maybe I'll get a refurb that is put together correctly...

Got HTC on the phone again, and the woman at HTC in their tech support was actually honest with me. She did state that she had heard that some refurbs were being repaired with poor quality and thus had been rejected by customers. She transferred me to their warranty department, and the warranty department didn't have a clue what I was talking about. All she said was that she's not part of HTC and couldn't help me in her nice middle eastern accent.

So I contacted Verizon yet again. I explained to her that all I want is a refurb that has the screen on correctly so that when I use the speaker function and flip the phone on its face, the phone is making contact with the outer edge and not the screen. She seemed a little more empathetic this time and told me that she'll try to send out a 5th phone and will actually request it from a different facility. Apparently there are 3 different facilities that process refurbs so I'll find out tomorrow. She did tell me that if this refurb has any quality issues that the option at that point will be for me to get a different phone, but it'll have to be a pre-certified phone. From what I remember, Verizon only has 2 other 4G phones so my options are definitely going to be limited. I sure wish their newest phone that is due out this month had enough returns to make a certified pre-owned available if anything just to give me more options. I guess I'll have to decide between the other 4G phones if this last refurb isn't up to snuff.

I got my 5th refurb today. Pulled it out of the wrapper and started to check the fitment of the glass. As I started to check around the edge of the glass, I lost my grip on the phone and it came crashing down on my non-carpeted kitchen floor.... :( DAMNIT! What JUST KIDDING! I did finally get the phone in, and aside from a very small chip in the plastic that you actually have to look for, the phone is much better than the garbage I was getting from the other refurb sites. Now I just hope the phone doesn't have some hidden flaw once I restore it from my old phone...What a DRAG!!
