Seidio Shipping New Accessories

Why is checkout on the Sedioonline website NOT https?

You're mistaken. The informational components of the site are 128 bit encrypted with MD5 checksum and RSA. If you're using Chrome as your browser (or Firefox, or whatever has a strikethrough on the HTTPS), it means that not -all- components of the checkout page are HTTPS (this could be banners, headers, etc). The important information is secured and encrypted though.

Thanks for answering this question howetechnical! Our check-out page is secure and you can verify that by going to the homepage and scrolling down. You'll see a blue circle button on the left that allows you to verify that.

Fantastic! This is the first device that I can see keeping for over a year, so I think I'll go try and convince the wife to let me buy one (we're buying a house, so even a $40 purchase could land me in the dog house if not done right :p )

Out of all the websites I have bought stuff at, this is the only that didn't say https. Therefore, regardless of what it may or may not be, I won't purchase from it. I have encounter many websites with banners, headers, etc. that were https. Until this is resolved, I won't purchase from this site. I am sure Amazon sells an extended battery.

You're mistaken again. The site does show https, it only shows that not every component of the site is https. Here's a quick lesson in online security that you can take to the bank. The components that matter (the -only- ones that matter) in shopping carts are the sensitive data fields, such as credit card number, name, address, etc. If you were to look at the source code for the shopping cart at their site, you would notice that the various links up top are in their own table and frame. There is another table that calls a script function to collect the customer's information and payment data, which it then sends to an active server page for processing. This data transmission is encrypted in 128 bit MD5 checksum encryption.

You have nothing to worry about when ordering off their site, but if you tend to follow Mel Gibson's point of view in his movie Conspiracy Theory, then by all means choose a different vendor.

FYI: I am in no way affiliated with Seidio, just in case anybody thinks I am for defending them. I'm just enthusiastic about their products after having used them for years. I'm also a "retired" web designer and current software engineer, so I know a little about this kind of thing :D

Game off.

You do realize that in order to develop a larger (physical) battery, which is what one over 1900mAh is, the designer also has to develop a larger battery cover, which on the Sensation is a unibody all-in-one? That means new antenna for all wireless communication, etc, since those components are in the cover. Once that's done, the cost increase of the battery cover itself would set the combined cost of the battery and the cover together too high for most to want to purchase. I would imagine that they would need to sell a couple thousand combo units to offset the cost of R&D, marketing, production, etc, which is a number they probably would not reach given that the combo unit cost would be close to doubled. Would you pay $150 for a 2700mAh battery + cover combo?

Given that all of my previous extended batteries had doors with bulges, to accomodate the larger battery, I'm well aware that a larger door would be required. Since my Motorola came with an OEM larger battery door, its not an extra ordinary desire to have a larger capacity battery, either by a 3rd party, or joint development.

Regarding the antennnae, they seem to be nothing more than a thin layer or metallic compound poured onto the cover. As for the cover being "unibody", there sholdn't be a need for screws and mounting points if it were so.

HTC says it's unibody by their own marketing material, call it what you want :p

As far as the extended battery and larger cover, I agree there are many who would want that, I'm just playing devil's advocate from the company's point of view and not seeing a large enough projected consumer interest based on the increased price of production.

Will Seido carry a holster for naked device? I don't like a case but have love and used your naked holster only on many of my previous devices for years...

I do not however, see it available for the Sensation....

Unfortunately we do not have plans for a Spring-Clip holster for use with non-cased device for the HTC Sensation 4G.

I have an Amer TPU case. Will it fit to the desktop dock?

Our Desktop Cradles are designed specifically for use with Seidio cases. It may fit in the Desktop Cradle out of coincidence, but we cannot confirm or deny compatibility. Sorry about that!

Just dropping by to mention that we have upgraded the mAh of our Innocell Slim Extended Life Battery to 1900 mAh.
