whats Your newest MUST HAVE app?

Been using checkmark (pro version) quite a bit lately to attempt to organise myself. It doesnt try to be all things to all people like, say, evernote - it's basically just a checklist app - but i've found it to be pretty much indispensable.

Really dont get why you posted this link - are you still trying to prove something a month later? Just let it go dude, you'll be much happier in the long run.

P.S. youve posted half a dozen posts in this thread, and NONE of them have been on topic - kind of ironic what with you telling people how to behave in most of them, no?

This specific thread is requesting people to post one recent app that they recommend, and state why. Presumably because the OP wants to get a feel for anything good thats been released on the markey lately (all of those old threads tend to be filled with just old apps). Youve posted a bunch of rants and a huge list of old apps that have been around for ages, along with a bunch of links to huge threads with all the same apps that have been posted time and time again. Basically (IMO) what the OP was hoping to avoid.

I actually dont have a problem with that, the more the merrier in my book. Was just pointing it out because you were jumping all over the OP telling him what he should and shouldnt post because we've seen it all before, and yet you were off-topic with all of your own posts, and posting lots of seen-it-all-before links. Pot-Kettle, and all that. I just though it was amusing ;)

Anyhow all of this is derailing the thread again. So now i'm just as guilty as you are. Ironic huh?

So, why are you only calling me out for not following the OP's instructions? If you want to argue that I shouldn't be posting old apps, let's at least be fair.

QR Droid 4 Beta

Widget Locker
Well more than 3 months. I've had it on my phone at least a year, and I think I started with version 2.

Gesture Search
March 2010, > 3 months

checkmark (pro version)
Since 2010. Look, you are posting off topic old app recommendations?

Broken screen touch
Absolutely ancient...

Quick Calendar

So how is this thread any different? (This has been my point from the beginning. The OP's criteria are not realistic or useful at all.) Just because an app is old, doesn't mean it's not good. The apps I posted, I still have and use a lot.

You can't realistically blame me for posting "old" apps when the entire thread is "old" apps.

Was just pointing it out because you were jumping all over the OP telling him what he should and shouldnt post because we've seen it all before

Actually, if you read my first post I was recommending ways in which the OP could find new apps. I also pointed him to an entire forum dedicated to application reviews (in my 2nd post).

yet you were off-topic with all of your own posts

It became off topic when people decided that I am not allowed to disagree with them.

Anyhow all of this is derailing the thread again. So now i'm just as guilty as you are. Ironic huh?

hi all

yes widget locker is very good - ive used it for months and wouldnt be without it :)

one of my other fave apps is Quick Agenda widget - it allows me to have a super big reminder on my home screen - and best of all it pulls the event details straight from the calendar - nice

another old fave is Calendar snooze - its a really solid alarm manager/rescheduler

cheers

Look here people, i have been a member here well over a year now and trawl the applications forum religiously. Whether apps are old or new is irrelevent to me, but whenever "another one of post your favourite app etc" threads start there's always something different that appears and i check it out and have found many great apps that way, thanks to you all. So i for one haven't got a problem with it. Sure if you see something old, ignore it and move on to the next without complaining. Thanks. (just my 5cents worth as you say in good ole usa). :)

In a thread about must have apps, posting app suggestions and links to other discussions about must have apps is suddenly off topic?

Android Agenda Widget is tops for me. It is very customizable with multiple themes and options. I have my calendar events displayed on one of my home pages. When scrolling to this page, I get a quick snapshot of future events. If more info is needed for an event, just tap it and the calendar opens. This widget automatically updates with your calendar. I'd be lost without it.

My lastest aquisition:

Ubermusic by Federico Carnales (Launcher Pro)

Essentially turns your phone into a Zune. Looks great, best looking media player in my opinion. It's skinnable, supports 2 types of Last.FM scrobbling, and is quite stable. The only feature it's missing is lockscreen controls, but pick up a copy of Widgetlocker while you are at it and problem solved :)

Oh, and my off topic .02 on this thread:

Brilliant. Some of these "App" threads mentioned are quite old. Especially the stickies. Stickies are great for newcomers to android to check out, but when you've had an android phone for 3 years, a thread telling you to download "Pandora" isn't very helpful. I think the occasional thread like this is a good way to trim down on the amount of threads for single apps (threads that often don't last long, and thus a good app might not get the attention it deserves). I'm not saying threads like this should be stickied, but let them run their course. Ironically anyone who hates this type of thread coming in to complain about it is only prolonging the threads lifespan. And I for one am happy for it :)

Edit: Just a heads up, if you purchase UberMusic your credit reciept will say "LauncherPro". This was a red flag for me because I happened to have purchased LPP a while back and I thought I was being double charged. Just a friendly warning :p
