Within becomes Epic Touch 4G

I've not seen anything to suggest that the American version will be any bigger than the European one. What is making you guys think that it will?

CDMA and WiMax radios are larger than HSPDA. If the European version was packaged very tightly with the existing components, they would have no choice but to make the Verizon and sprint versions bigger. That pretty much happens with most phones that come out on both GSM and cdma carriers.

Looks like T-Mobile's Samsung Hercules' very, very, VERY sexy pics have leaked! Did I mention they were VERY sexy?

Samsung Hercules Unveiled For T-Mobile, Galaxy S 2 Variant Confirmed

I hope the Sprint variant looks like a smaller version of this!

I hope the sprint version kept the larger home button instead of those 4 touch buttons, that looks worse than the world gsII, not as seamless, getting uglier and uglier news by the day now. infuse body instead of gs2 body, and now we see they may not even keep the home button on the larger version of the phone and instead use an infuse button layout at the bottom instead of the gs2.

They might need to have a slightly larger chassis to house a larger wimax radio, but there is no excuse for ditching the home button. Do they think the infuse button layout looks better than the gs2?

looks more cluttered to me.

The Infuse isn't the only phone that has the 4 buttons, every non-european OG SGS had those too. The Euro OG SGS had the big home button also. I hate that big ugly button though! It just doesn't look good to me. I would want it if they could make it less ugly somehow. But I like the 4 capacitive better.

I could not agree more, it just looks like a Nexus S now. Hopefully this isn't what the sprint version will look like. Also according to rumors they have changed the processor in the Hercules to the Qualcomm. If this is the case for the Sprint version where they change the looks and the especially the processor I might have to pass.

From what I hear the processor wont be as good, so I might have to stay with the Photon if that happens.

Lets pray it doesn't, but I really doubt the Sprint version has the home button though, as So-Low Da Don said all the Samsung Galaxy S phones last year dropped the button as well. Here's hoping they learned to keep it on some of the US phones.

Also judging by the leaked pics of the Sprint Version, so far it looks more like a Galaxy S 2 than the Hercules or at least more like the Original Version from Overseas. The Sprint Version doesn't look like a Nexus S from the back, it isn't as round as the Hercules picture. But the Within/Epic Touch still appears to be more round a little at the to than the Original Galaxy S 2.

But the main thing I am worrying is still the processor, I hope they didn't change it.

The 4.5" screen is only for the Hercules on Tmobile and Telus, not the Sprint Version. So far we are only lead to believe it to be a 4.3" screen.

Supposedly the FCC docs for the Sprint version stated the device was a tad bit taller and wider than the original Euro version (with no word on the thickness, supposedly), which is why the rumor of the 4.5 display began.

Yeah but I thought that was normal because of it having to have a CDMA radio inside of it? Also since isn't WIMAX a separate radio as well?

I can't believe anyone would be excited about what T-mobile did to the Galaxy S2 in those pictures.

THE WORST THING A CARRIER CAN DO TO THIS PHONE IS ROUND THE CORNERS!

I'm sorry, but I am so sick of this disgusting phones with rounded corners, like Americans are too dumb to handle a nick rectangular phone! They look so much more sleek when they aren't rounded like children's phones!

The T-mobile version simply looks like the photon. If Sprint's version is in any way similar, I'll just keep the photon. Form factor and aesthetics are important to me.

Agreed, the original gs2 had everything.

If you look at these, the Sprint version is not as squared off as the original SG2 but it isn't as round as the Tmobile Hercules.

This is so damn frustrating to sit here and hear leak after leak and how successful it has been in Europe. I have been waiting to compare this with the Photon so that I really know where to upgrade from my EVO. I have the 12 month upgrades with Sprint so this sucks watching all this time go by. Just hurry up and release it so I can buy one!

@wolfedude:
Not bad, sprint's version looks the closest to the original(so far).
August is the last month I'm waiting, unless an actual date is set.

These are my options:

Original SG2(Claro, with the horrible service)
Within(looks to be the closest to the og sg2)
Attain(if it doesn't have a physical keyboard)

So far I'm leaning more to the Sprint version.

I wish they would remove the damn picture, it's clear that what we're getting wont look like that.

I know what you mean but they do put on that page:

"Global Galaxy S II device shown. Screen images simulated. Appearance of device may vary. Some features may not be available in all areas. "

In really small print just to cover their a$$es.

I saw that, but still. I'd be happier if they didn't remind me how good it would have looked if it wasn't for the carriers. :p
