Root [rom] miui4dx 1.8.19[updated 8/23/2011]

I posted this in another thread but here goes.....

I want to like this rom but there are so many issues that come into play with every update. Here is what I've seen in the latest release. I'm probably going back to CM7 or OMFGB today:

- Button function is worse on miui than any other 2nd init rom so far
- Airplane mode bug where the phone shuts off data and thinks it is in airplane mode until reboot
- Issues with applications in landscape (car home, gentle alarm, etc) being cut off on the left side.
- Battery drain on this latest release for me is like water down a drain. 15% in the last 45 min. (Starting to settle a bit now, I think it was from the airplane mode issue)
- Text messages out of order in the MIUI messaging application.
- Beautiful Widgets 4x1 home weather doesn't work, it shows up as 4x2
- Screenshot via menu+vol down is broken

Could you elaborate on what you mean when you say that text messaging is broken? I've been texting on the newest version without issue.

Incoming times are off, I believe on the MIUI forums it was said that incoming are all sorted by GMT. It isn't "broken" per se, it is just that if you have a long list of texts in the inbox sometimes you miss an incoming message because it gets put off the bottom of the screen because of the incoming time stamp.

Apparently it was fixed in the mms.apk of other releases but we haven't seen that version that allows sorting by local time not GMT.

I'm flashing back to .22. Sure the text messaging thing is still there but everything else is a lot better IMO. I can't stand this airplane bug.

Happened to me today too. First time in like six months I've had that happen. So is it this rom?

after some research i have seen some people getting this on CM7 but it never happened to me until MIUI 1.8.5 since MIUI for DX is based on CM that makes sense. i am hoping to get a logcat after it happens to me again so i can get it to framework to look at.

I was dropping Data/voice every day after flashing the new miui. I changed the network settings from Automatic to Home Only and haven't had a problem since.

Not sure if it fixed the glitch or if it is just a coincidence. Give that a try and let us know if it helps.

Good luck :)

I've always set mine to Home Only and I still had the data/cell signal drop 5 or 6 times a day.

Hmm. I think I screwed my phone up. Was working fine and was going to update to 1.8.5. So I installed D2 Bootstrap, and launched it into recovery mode, and now my phone is stuck in the Motorola logo.

I've tried to undo the battery, and then pressed Home. I got the android with the exclamation point and then went to the stock recovery. I then rebooted again but its still stuck at the Motorola logo.

if clearing the cache in stock recovery does not help you may need to sbf. to get into recovery on miui use rom manager and flash droidx 2n init version of CWR then use Rom Manager to boot to recovery.

Did you wipe Dalvik Cache before rebooting? Also I wouldn't use D2/DX Bootstrapper as it screws up 2nd-init. ROM Manager is the best solution for 2nd init ROMs, actually it's kind of a necessity for the updated CWR that works properly (aside from making a proper backup, WHY DO YOU ALWAYS FAIL THE MD5 CHECK ON RESTORE?! >_<) with 2nd-init ROMs.

If you use Bootstrapper with any 2nd-init ROM, you have to SBF. You have nothing else you can do now.

Bootstrapper is not to be used with any 2nd-init ROM like Cyanogen, MIUI, etc.

Argh. Crapola. I knew I should have asked. Oh well. I am charging my phone now, but I don't know how much battery I have left. So I'll let it charge for a bit before I SBF. Argh.
