My Captivate turns on, but the first screen it gets to is the AT&T screen, and it goes no further, just shutting down and going into a loop. It will not go into download mode. Would a USB jig be able to fix it? Also, if it does indeed get my phone into download mode, what exactly would I do from there? I ask that because the reason why my phone is in this state to begin with is because I went into download mode and tried to flash it to the stock firmware with Odin. I'd appreciate any help you could give me.

Well, I won't know if that would work until I know if getting a USB jig will get my phone into download mode in order for me to try that, but thank you, I appreciate the post and if a USB jig will help me, I will be sure to try that as soon as I get one and get my phone into download mode.

Yes, I was able to get into download mode before with that key combination, but once I did that and tried to use Odin on my phone, it made everything worse, including not being able to access download mode anymore, and that is where I currently am.

Ok, so I decided to get a jig since they're cheap enough, and thankfully it is booting my phone into download mode. That's great, but... what do I do now? The program that I was linked to here doesn't help, and as I said in my original post, Odin is what caused this in the first place, so that's out. How am I supposed to get my phone back to being operational?

Umm as far as I know, Odin is probably the easiest way to get back to stock. As long as you follow the steps exactly, you shouldn't get bricked again. I'm not sure if Heimdall would work since I've never used it before, but if someone has used it maybe they can give their opinion. Either way, you will be flashing bootloaders of the stock ROM, so there is always a chance of bricking, no matter what program you use. I followed this guide and it worked without any problems for me.

I didn't screw up when I originally used Odin. I even got the "pass" at the end. Since my phone was bricked I have seen a few people say that Odin does indeed brick the newer Captivates, which mine is as I only got it two months ago. There has to be another way.

Check your build number under your battery. Even with a newer build, like I have, the link I posted should still work. I think what you are referring to is Odin One Click which can brick newer Captivates, which my link does NOT use, it uses Odin v1.7.

Well, I went ahead and tried Heimdall and thankfully it worked. What you say could very well be the case, but I figured it was better to avoid Odin since it was what put me in that spot to begin with. Thanks for the replies anyway.
