Root Need help ASAP! Please!

I'm trying to get Froyo on my NookColor via SD card.Yes I've searched but I'm still confused on if and how a edit partitions on my SD card. I've burned [ROM] Customized Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 Image for SDcard Updated (4/29) onto my SanDisk 4g Class 4 microSD card and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do next. Please help. I'm standing by.

I was using threads on here, XDA and searched Google. The directions from the XDA thread with the link to the download said if you have higher than a 2g card you need to partition your card, assuming everyone knows how to do that. Lol. I do not. I downloaded a partition editor but don't know how to do it.

Ok, first of all, there a reason why you want to run Froyo? CM7 is better and faster and more development time goes into it. It's what most of us here run.

I assume there's a reason why you're running off the sdcard? Usually it's because you want to keep your NC stock or to be able to boot into either CM7 or stock. Most of us here just flashed our Nooks with CM7 and use the sdcard for storage for applications.

I see the guide you posted was last updated in April.

Many of the CM7 users here are running a build a week or two old. (Mine is from 2 days ago.) Unlike fine wine, roms do not get better with age.

Yes I want to have the option of running stock. I had kind of a nightmare rooting my EVO and I don't want to screw up my Nook. Lol

What are you looking into?

So far I gave you a link to installing CM7 on a sdcard (which I have not done, nor do I need to), I mentioned that CM7 replacing your stock rom was faster, easier and more dependable and that returning to stock was easier (IMO) than the confusing link you posted.

If you don't know what the H you're doing, maybe you have a computer literate friend or coworker that does?

All you have to do is print off the page and do it one step at a time and check off each one. We've all been there at one time or another.

The worst part is I'm the most computer literate person I know! Lol. I will have to sit down and read it slower. I get overwhelmed sometimes but haven't run into something I couldn't figure out.

Don't have a nook color, but I do have general experience with this stuff.

Tell us what you've done so far.

First, download CM7. Either nightly (Which are the most recently updated versions, but do not promise to be stable [for testing various features and stuff]) or the RC build. I would go with the RC build for now.

Then download the image file from the link in the guide (The first one). You will then install this image file via a third party program. May I recommend Win32 disk imager?

Now, write the image file to the card via Win32 disk imager. Make sure you've formatted your card beforehand (Also meaning backing up your files). It should be a pretty straightforward process.

Now take that CM7 rom you've downloaded and put it in the root of your SD card (Not in any folders in the SD card). Make sure it's a .zip and you haven't renamed it.

How did you know I was watching TV?

Before all that, I have a newer Nook with 1.2 should I put it back to the older version? Is it that important? I have an SD card for storage. Also don't I need to Root first?

Lol. It actually only took about 20 min from start to finish.

I've noticed I can't download a lot of apps from the market, is there a work around for that? Also it seems a little laggy to me, anything I can do about that?

Also I thought we could have Flash?

Flash is available from Market.

A new rom will be laggy for the first day or so.

"I can't download a lot of apps from the market", meaning what? Not a big selection? They fail to install?

There's been a lot of complaints with the new Market on phones and tablets.

I searched Flash and went to it but there is no install button. Same thing for some apps like Facebook and Angry Birds Seasons. On a worse note I have complete f-ed up my Nook. I changed from no lock screen to a lock screen and when I tried to switch back to no lock screen it has completely locked me out. Comes on with lock screen with nothing to swipe to unlock. I tried rebooting but it stays the same. I can not get off the lock screen.

Hold the power button down until it turns off. This will reset it. It sounds like your NC just froze that's all. Yes, the new market blocks a lot of apps, Not much you can do to fix it-you can uninstall the update and go back to the old market but it will re-update itself in a day or two. You can also install the Amazon App Store and look for the apps there or sideload them.
